Quite a large cafe with outdoor seating. We had a cappuccino, Americano, two English breakfasts & two toast with butter = £25. The food was decent as was the service.
Called in for a breakfast on a Sunday morning, staff are great unfortunately the food wasn’t. We both ordered the full breakfast and both came with overcooked burnt toast, sausage, eggs and cremated hash browns. Certainly not worth the £24. No we didn’t complain or receive a discount, that was another customer.
Really disappointed with our visit and we won’t be going again. Stopped by for breakfast. Waited 30minutes for the food. Bacon was cold . Mushrooms were inedible- so rubbery that the knife couldn’t cut them. Butter straight out of the fridge so couldn’t be spread on the toast. Eggs - whites were slightly under and yolk was almost solid how can that happen? no grilled tomatoes as advertised on the full English. Beans cold. The people at the table to our right waited close to 40mins for their breakfast and they didn’t eat theirs either. Complaining didn’t work they just said sorry and then charged me £30 for the privilege. Tea in a pot was nice as was the bottled orange juice. Gourmet only by name unfortunately- might be better trying the coffee shop around the corner and having a croissant instead.
Really poor. The owner/manager need to take a long hard look at themselves. The staff were all friendly and efficient, but the price and quality of food was TERRIBLE. My first quibble is the price/quantity ratio. For 9.95, I would want a full English to have beans and two eggs. I would also expect a decent level of ingredients. Not the cheapest possible bacon and sausage . I wouldn't eat the sausages or give any to my son they were disgusting. If you wish to charge that price, invest a little bit more and buy some decent ingredients. I am sorry, but it is not to behave like this, especially during a cost of living crisis. Won't be coming back and resent parting with £20 for two breakfasts that were vastly inferior to what you would £6 each for at Morrisons POSTCRIPT: Wow. What a lovely response. I am sure you feel you have put me in my place with such a retort , but other customers will see you responding like that. I just hope me and my family do not get sick as that food waa not fit for human consumption. I have reached out via social media to discuss this further but you appear to be ignoring my messages.
Lovely little cafe with helpful staff. Great freshly prepared food.
Welcoming, attentive, friendly staff. Food and drinks well made, tasty and decent portions. Value for money. Only comment is not much choice for dietary requirements, my daughters are vegan!Food: 4/5
Lovely choice of teas and some coffees. Eggs Benedict was perfect! Local ingredients..Very central. Outside seating. Very nice lunch stopover off the A1Food: 5/5
Two of us called at this cafe on Sunday. The staff ignored us as we waited, and ignored other people too. So we waited… and waited.. in the end we left after 10 minutes without even being acknowledged. Not an ‘hello, we’ll be with you in a minute ‘ or anything! Others also felt exasperated too! Obviously no staff training whatsoever. Definitely won’t be visiting this inhospitable cafe again. Whoever is in charge needs to implement staff training asap. A terrible experience.
Nice cafe. Reasonably priced. Been here a few times with cycling friends. Always been made to feel welcome. Always enjoyed breakfast. Food is generally pretty prompt.Food: 4/5
Consistently good quality food & service. Great for coffee, cakes, snacks or a full meal. Outside seating available as well. Good stop for cyclist too, as your bike remains safely in view at all times.
