Taking advantage of the two main courses for £13, on selected mains but still with a generous choice, we visited on a Wednesday evening. I ordered the Portuguese fish stew which was a delicious smoked fish dish containing peas and new potatoes in a creamy tomato based sauce that I would highly recommend. I was informed by the waiter that the numerous Portuguese dishes on the menu are down to the landlord himself being from Portugal. My partner had the Classic Burger with cheese and bacon that was accompanied by chips and coleslaw. Although this type of burger can be found on a lot of pub menus I am reliably informed it was also delicious. 2 good mains from 2 chosen. The pub is very cosy and comfortable and the staff were very polite, friendly and efficient. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening and we would not hesitate to return in the near future. Thanks to The Golden Cock for a lovely evening and please continue to champion the native food of your landlord, it makes a refreshing change from the usual pub grub. 🇵🇹 🍻🙌🏻

A really nice pub with separate dining room but you can also eat in the bar (small) .Great food and a decent selection. Gets busy so plan well. Has a good size car park and an outside seating area Well worth a visit if your close !!

The building in and out is beautiful with lots of great charm and character! the staff, service and food is absolutely excellent, the food was cooked so well (nice and hot) lovely presentation and timely served. Nothing was too much a problem for the pleasant and friendly staff and we were all made very welcome and felt very relaxed and content...(oh and full) First class... by any standards! Went here for my dads 60th, great venue it has low ceilings .. not that big but has a very country pub feel. Well kept and clean. Food lovely. However there isnt much in terms of baby facilities
