Found the reviews on The Golden Ball Inn on line as we wanted somewhere that we could take our dogs. We visited on a bank holiday weekend and were seated straight away. It was late in the afternoon and as a result some of the meals were no longer available. I had dressed crab with new potatoes, and while the crab and salad was very nice, the potatoes were rather over cooked. My wife had lime and coconut chicken with sweet potato fries, which was very nice. Of the deserts, the honey panacotta with rhubarb was to die for. There was also a nice selection of regular and guest beers available. As the pub is not in the main touristy areas, I expect that tables will be easier to come by, but by getting away from the crowd you will find a lovely pub with a very nice atmosphere and very nice food. Give it a go.

We arrived around 4pm on a bank holiday Sunday and got a table easily. Menu choices were good. Hard to choose . Our meals were lovely including desserts. We had our 3 dogs, who were welcomed. Nice atmosphere and good 80s CD in the background. Nice location also.

We had a meal here after driving up from Reading on a Friday evening in February 2018. Good service, nice food. I had a fish course and my wife had pheasant. There was a good range of beers and the wine was decent. All in all, a great pub that we'll be visiting again

Love The Golden Ball and have for years. It has a nice olde worlde feel, super food and nice atmosphere. There's plenty of outdoor space - back and front - for summer drinks.

Beautiful historic venue, excellent food. I recommend the pork loin. Bit difficult to get to, but highly recommend.
