A confession first, as an Ironbridge resident this is one of the pubs I class as my local so I’m probably biased….nI booked in for Sunday lunch with the family yesterday and it was excellent from start to finish!nIt was extremely busy on arrival but our reserved table was available and perfectly set. Despite how busy they were, the staff, both behind the bar and those serving food, were friendly, polite and attentive. We were advised of the wait which was hardly surprising giving the number of diners and we were more than happy to enjoy the convivial atmosphere.nWhen it arrived the food was delicious. We all had Sunday roasts with myself and my sister opting for the sharing platter - I would wholeheartedly recommend this option.nFour clean plates later and four very content diners, we sat back and put the world to rights over a few more drinks. We were not rushed in any way and frankly I could not think of a more enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon especially when you throw in the footie results.nWell done everyone and thanks for a lovely afternoon
The Tapas tonight was a great initiative to add something different to an already established eatery for the best Sunday lunches locally. The menu choices were plentiful and considered as well as delicious.
UPDATED REVIEW ADDED BELOW.nnMy family and I booked a table at this gorgeous old pub in Ironbridge. It used to be a family favourite years ago so we were all excited to visit again as we have fond memories of some fantastic nights there.nnUnfortunately we left disappointed.nnWe opted not to have starters so went straight to mains - we were served amongst other things watery mash potatoes, cold, hard peas and lukewarm chips.nThe puddings - insulting at best!nMy husband and I spotted Christmas Pudding on the menu so excitedly we ordered this as we are both massive lovers of it. If I said the portions were small, I would be selling them short. Each pudding was £6.50 and was smaller than the single potions that can be purchased for a £1 at the local supermarket. A huge disappointment and to feel ripped off is not a good way to end a family evening together.nnThe service - sadly it appeared that the pub was very under staffed and the staff that were on shift barely smiled. The waitress was forgetful and multiple times items ordered were forgotten - one example tomato sauce was requested for the fish and chips and it arrived when we had almost finished the meal.nnSuch a shame.nnOn a positive note the overall atmosphere of the pub was lovely and festive. The clientele were really enjoying themselves and the vibe was great!nnUPDATED REVIEW FOLLOWING RESPONSE FROM VENDOR.nnAfter seeing the response from the Golden Ball I feel the need to add a further note…nFirstly both myself and another in the party did raise our concerns with the waitress and their response was that they were aware of the issues and that lots of other people had complained too.nnSecondly I do not carry spare matching dinner plates in my bag, I certainly do not have matching plates stashed up my sleeves and most definitely did not go to the loo to wash my dinner plate off in order to deceive and I am deeply offended at this accusation.nnThey couldn’t even be bothered to set our table for the right number of guests making for a very awkward situation.nnI have always felt very fondly of this pub - I even worked there for a short period of time - but the response from the Golden Ball shows a total lack of respect for paying customers and is both defensive and offensive.nnShame.
Visited with my Wife, kids and dog. Nice traditional pub with a good selection of beers. Bar man was very friendly unfortunately the wait for food was almost an hour and one meal was missed off the order. The food was ok but we had a lot better during our short break in Jackfield.
Quite Simply the best Sunday Lunch I've had. My wife and I had the sharing board which was incredible, so much food and the quality of the Beef was exceptional. They even made us a small bowl of mash and vegetables for our baby who also enjoyed it equally. Customer service here is also expectational! All of the staff can't do enough for you, the pub also has really warm and cozy feel, making the whole experience outstanding!!
