Great historical pub with an abundance of atmosphere. Lots of charming features. Food was delicious, good choice of ales on offer. We had Dean looking after, he offered a great service, knowledgeable with the menu. Helpful and attentive. Thanks Dean for making our first trip a good memory - we will certainly be back... Lauren who also served us towards the end of the meal was polite and offered good customer service
Have been here many times. Great atmosphere in the evenings. Today we booked a table upstairs. Strange atmosphere as we arrived 15 minutes early for our table but had to wait 15 minutes before we were asked what we would like to drink. The toilets were closed so we had to walk downstairs and to the far end of the building to use the public bars toilet. Food was lovely. Staff were very friendly and would definitely use it again.
A historic inn. Been coming here for the odd drink for years. The inside has charm, as does the courtyard area. Always thronging with people until closing. Great in the summer. Good beers on tap. Our service was pretty rude this time round but otherwise it was a decent place. There is water available in jugs by the window. Lots of nice seating indoors. Some ropey toilets upstairs but nice walk to reach them.
Great building with lots of history, good food and drink with pleasant and attentive service. We dined in the Gallery room. Only points of improvement would be some flexibility especially during quieter times, for instance: if someone wants to dine on the terrace 2 feet away from the inside tables I don't see the harm but we were told it would not be table service on the terrace and it was 28° outside also if someone was to order a drink that's available downstairs but not in the small bar upstairs again surely to bring a specific drink upstairs wouldn't be too much trouble. Small issues but overall a lovely meal in a beautiful location Walkability: Very close to the tube station
We were a large table and ate upstairs in the gallery so had table service. The front of house staff were excellent and the service was great all night. The food was mixed in terms of quality and very poor value for money. I had the house burger which was £18.45. The burger was dry, burnt, and overcooked. The burger was a good size but only came with a small bucket of fruits. My partner had the Duck Hash which tasted very nice and was very soft and moist. However it had a bit of plastic in it which was presumably from the plastic packaging the food came in from the off-site production kitchen. My beer glass also had a sharp chip in the top which could have cut my lips.
Been meaning to come for some times. Pros; visually very impressive. Love a historic pub. It is a beautiful place steeped in History. Pea soup was actually very pleasant; pick of the three food options we went for Cons; pricy for what it was. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised for quite a touristic place but I thought £4 for a half pint was on the steep side. The other pint I had was not a full pint. I suppose I could have complained about a short measure and got the full measure. Glad I've been but not sure I'd be in a hurry to return. Other historic pubs I've preferred. Service was okay, but not more than that. Not rude but not especially friendly. Didn't stay in the hotel so can't comment. Food & drinks: Overly pricey in my opinion. Food was okay; probably quite standard, but drinks over priced for me. If they were a little cheaper likely we'd be back.
Truly the worst meal with the worst service that I've had - not only in London - but anywhere. The young server tried to be kind and said there was a "mishap" in the kitchen - but it took 40 minutes for a simple lunch to arrive. We both have been treated for nausea and food poisoning. It's a fine old historic place - any maybe this was a "bad day" - but - for your own health - skip the food!
We had a wonderful experience at The George Inn this evening. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was exceptional. There were unanticipated staffing issues and we weren’t able to sit in the Winchester Room where we were booked. But the manager, Holly, was so accommodating and ensured that why had the same level of service that we were anticipating. We can only praise the staff here for the great experience we had and would highly recommend The George Inn!
Loved our meal at The George Inn. Dean especially was very attentive. We loved the history of the pub and the food and atmosphere even more. We only had a flying visit but would love to sound more time at this little gem of a place. All the staff we came across were friendly.Service: 5/5
A old haunt from younger years. Nothing has changed other than more tourism. We has a good catch-up and chat about the many drinks consumed locally. This coach house pub is a must for any tourist in the area.
