The George & Falcon at Warnford is steeped in history, although lots of it is hard to find reference to! What we do know is ..

In 1651 Colonel Gounter drank ale at the then named 'The Falcon' at Warnford during his part in the Flight of Charles II
Later the Inn became a coaching house and during the late 18th century, George III was reputed to have changed horses at the Inn on his way to Weymouth and to show honour for his visit it was renamed 'The George'

Gradually 'The George' reverted back to being a village Inn but with the advent of the motor car it soon became a popular eating house. In 1976 the Inn changed to a Free House and to commemorate the occasion 'The George' was renamed 'The George & Falcon'
There have been various owners over the past 40 years, it closed for a while in 2009 for a major refurbishment and we have been here since 2010 and are proud to have made it a 'popular eating house' once more!

This pub has so much future potential and recently taken over by new owners from what I've been told by a local. Great location and now with the extra traffic passing heading to the car and bike meets at the Caffeine and Machine, plus all the walkers in the area it really needs to up it's game for good food. The garden has a lovely setting by a river and would be a great place to relax and eat/drink in the summer. If they can emulate the food and experience you get at the Thomas Lord down the road they could really do well especially as they can facilitate much greater amounts of cars than the Thomas Lord can. Will visit again when food becomes available and will update my review. Wishing you all the best of success guys.
Love the place and cheap cocktails. We have booked up a room for my wife's birthday. They are starting food soon, So will have a meal and enjoy the eveningLocation: 5/5
So here's a great activity. We journeyed to Old Winchester Hill along Hayden Lane to walk our dog. On the way back we were thirsty and hungry, so, since the George and Falcon was opposite the junction for the lane, we drove in. It was a mid week afternoon so very quiet there, but dog friendly so perfect. Plenty of choice for seating, be it arm chairs, regular tables, veranda with garden tables or benches out by the river. The owners were lovely and hospitality light hearted and welcoming. We sat down to gorgeous food. What a pleasant surprise this place was. Lovely walk, lovely meal, great day. Nearby activities: The blast of fresh air that is the walk at Old Winchester Hill, a short drive up Hayden lane. Food & drinks: High quality food that is well presented Noteworthy details: Dog friendly
Lovely pub! It's huge! With plenty of parking and lots of choice of food and drinks with outdoor seating areas. Very near to Old Winchester Hill that is a fantastic walk with incredible views. Worth a visit most definitely. Lovely staff. I normally take photos in the pub but was so relaxed I just enjoyed my surroundings I forgot! But it's very clean and well presented. Nearby activities: Local walks and hiking are great! Food & drinks: Great food and drink options.
We were looking for a pub on our way home. We stopped off at a few pubs but the menu's were either not suitable or didn't like their options. Finally we ended up here, and we were thankful it didn't work out at the other pubs because its beautiful here. The staff were amazing, funny, friendly and very accommodating especially when it came to the kids food. Also they are dog friendly which we thought is great, not that we had ours dogs with us. The garden is beautiful with a lovely view of the river. The food was lovely and hot with no complaints. We all said we'd love to go back. Vegetarian options: Had a lovely vegetarian burger, it came with salad which I popped in the burger.
Large group of us arrived in dribs and drabs. Lovely food, priced competitively, served in a timely manner. Sincere staff eager to keep guests happy. Lovely stream at the bottom of the garden. Dogs seemed welcome. Disabled loo, with baby change a good facility, 8/10 for cleanliness here on this busy day. Pub tables and clearing was fine.
Popped in for a drink after our walk-up Old Winchester Hill, it is right opposite the turning for the historic landmark. It's Lovely pub... It's a big establishment, well decorated and clean... lovely staff and a really nice area. We've eaten here before and it's nice food. Big car park. Outside area at the back. All-round nice pub...
5*s is not enough for this pub!!! I can honestly say just walking in and being greeted the way we were was so lovely. My husband and I had just finished a very long walk on Winchester hill, and driving back down, the pub is just at the bottom of the hill and it was time for a burger and beer! : we were greeted in such a friendly manner and the front of house staff treated us so warmly. We chose a seat and Irish Chris who served us. Told us there was a nice table by a open lit fire and and to take it to warm us up! Which we did with our hesitation. The food was amazing, the pub is gorgeous and the people that run it are even better. I haven't felt so comfortable in a pub for a very long time. The lady who brought our food to us came to check on us and make sure everything was ok and made sure we had everything we possibly needed through out our meal, As well as us all sat around the fire talking : we will for sure be coming back and already recommended to all friends and family! Thanks for the best pub experience George and Falcon! See you soon xx Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options was very lovely Parking: Had a nice sized car park at the front and extended one at the back. Very way to park
Strange pub/hotel/restaurant. There was a wake on, yesterday and amazingly no one had thought to inform the G&F that they were coming? So no food had been ordered and the management were scrambling to get the required food orders ready. This obviously had a bearing on the general bar service, but the wait wasn't excessive and the 2 men working, managed to keep on top of everything... although I suspect the arrival of 28 unexpected guests would have caused some consternation and angst? Plenty of seating both inside and out... lovely riverside dining area is definitely a highlight. Reasonable sized car park, but caution is needed for entry and exit as it is on a very busy road. Prices are just north of average, but acceptable for a special occasion.
I have Been here Twice now and haven't got a bad word to say. The pub is in a perfect location on a picturesque part of the countryside. There is an excellent choice of drinks and food available and the bar staff are very polite and warmingService: 5/5
