Fantastic decor but food and service unfortunately let the place down during our visit. Been driving past it many times on our way and always wanted to go there. Booking process typical for any place, done online with live selections of available slots. Decor is very nice, you can see that a lot of work has gone into it and it really all works well together. We were a part of 4 for late lunch, as we got there at 4pm. At that time most of lunch guests have been finishing so it was getting empty by the minute up until after 5pm, when guests started to arrive for dinner. Ordering if drinks and food went well and up to this point I was fairly satisfied. My starter arrived timely, but it wasn't as hot as you would expect. I had scallops and they were very tasty but just lack of plate warming let it down. We waited quite long for our mains and when they arrived it was again very similar story. Two pizzas and two burgers were all lukewarm. As we were hungry there was no point of sending the food back as it would just extended our wait for replacement. We still ordered desserts as wanted to give them a try but the wait for them was even longer than for the mains. Once we asked for our bill, we discovered that we were overcharged by about £30, due to 3 desserts and 2 coffees added to the bill. We asked got this to be corrected, but frankly I have never had such issue in any other places I went to.

The food is absolutely amazing here. Staff are polite. The chef “Kat” was so helpful when we wanted order pudding. Definitely be going back here !

Food and service was very good. Booked in advance for Mother's Day meal and wanted a table for three but the online reservation only registered for two. Luckily they were able to squeeze us in despite it being very busy.Food: 4/5

Absolutely delicious food and service from Alex was exceptional! He looked after us with professionalism and friendliness in perfect balance. Thank you too for the birthday song, for my friend, what a treat Wheelchair accessibility: Disabled toilet clean and big.

Went there for dinner on boxing day so they were offering a set price 3 course menu with a few choices for each course to choose from. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere in this restaurant is so nice. The food was delicious and would definitely return.

This has been my go to ‘Gastro Pub’ in the area for years when I take my Mum out for lunch. Service by Charlie or is it Charley? was fantastic, both friendly and attentive. Food as ever here is amazing - the trio of meats, roast is my go to dish, but make sure you have room for it ; the side of cauliflower cheese was equally good. Thank you to the whole team!

Very nice old place with modern design, but with all old features kept and exposed. Friendly and helpful members of stuff and also tasty food at reasonable prices. I was quite surprised by the number of people already in, for not the busiest time of day.Food: 4/5

Have had a few inconsistent visits here over the years, sometimes food quality, sometimes slow service as always seems to be busy, but really enjoyed a family meal here yesterday evening. Agree with other reviewers that some of the pricing is a bit high suppose we are in Harpenden but even so but the food selection and quality was good, something for everyone, and we had a fun evening. All really enjoyed their meals and drinks, so all good, and we will return soon no doubt. A big thank you to Marta for looking after us all :-

We were in the little side room to the right of the main entrance. Too many tables in there, felt very cramped, any movement by any guests caused bumping into others. Wait staff struggled to deliver food to tables without disturbing guests. Bottle of wine was initially not cold, but asked for and got some ice. All Food was very nice and tasty all guests enjoyed. Nice atmosphere. Waitress - English I would say was not her first language, so She got a few requests mixed up - but we could correct Her and she was fine. She was helpful and friendly. Reasonable prices. Parking: Good parking right outside
