Silver Cup

I have had the pleasure of eating here several times and have never been disappointed. The food is outstanding and often surprising, the service and ambience excellent. The Sunday roasts are the best we’ve had outside of home! and the set menus are creative and delicious. Yet to try the steak night - but will be booking that soon. Highly recommend.

A lovely chilled experience. I went for the bar menu and wasn’t disappointed. The food these guys produce is top notch you will not be disappointed. Great choice of wines and beer on offer too. Highly recommend paying them a visit.

Myself and my husband booked a few weeks past for steak night, a friend recommended. I have to say....definitely the best, most tasty steak ive ever ate. Service first class. Wine first class. The owner very attentive and all staff service fantastic. We will be back.

This is a review of the accommodation only. We stayed at the Silver Cup last night after a pre-Christmas visit to family. The accommodation was warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean and we were made very welcome. The decor and furnishings are not luxurious but the price is reasonable for what is provided. The bed and bedding made for a very good night's sleep. I suspect that the relatively new owners are understandably focusing on developing the food and drink offerings before upgrading the sleeping accommodation but we would not hesitate to stay there again. We had a couple of drinks in the bar during our stay and enjoyed them. We didn't try either the restaurant menu or the bar menu but look forward to doing so when the grandchildren are a little older and able to appreciate the food.

Had the pleasure of staying and dining at the Silver Cup, and it’s a wonderful experience. The food is amazing, from the thoughtful snacks to the mains which have the perfect balance of various ingredients. Many thanks to the team who run The Silver Cup, for the talent and for looking after your visitors so nicely.

An all round excellent experience. Michael and team are excellent hosts. I visited the silver spoon for Sunday roast. The best roast in many many years. We felt truly welcome. The menu was a real treat - you must have the scotch egg and 3 courses! Thank you

Had a great stay at the Silver Cup. The atmosphere and staff were great. Unfortunately couldn't stay for the Sunday roast which we had heard was fantastic. The room was clean and tidy albeit a tad old fashioned. Location great and easy to get too.Food: 4/5

Stayed overnight prior to moving house the next day. Pretty basic accommodation but adequate for one-night stay. Problem was that there was no water available in the bathroom so no shower possible in the morning ahead of a very busy day. Departed early so no-one around to assist and when we later requested some compensation for the lack of basic facilities the management failed to offer even an apology. Pretty poor hospitality.

Can't recommend this place enough. Fancied oysters but the day I booked for was a set menu I didn't realise yet they went above and beyond and even included oysters with my 7 courses. Embaressingly one of the snacks was so good I wept a little...it was the beef short rib snack. Also tried yeasty butter a few times before but this was the first time I enjoyed is. Salty and sour but yum. Bravo to all involved here.

First review of a restaurant . Restaurant was extremely hot asked for ice in white wine but was forgotten then was told the limited 4 choices offered both our choice was off. Then we were told its either rare or well cooked i asked for medium but was told rare or well done. VERY instructional . But we went with the order. As you do. We chose well done. BIZARRELY. We both received very rare i asked for mine to be cooked more they grunted and took it returning it with no emotion NO apology. Nothing. Also worth noting Potatoes were brought out in a communal bowl so if they get it wrong your side go cold odd being a very rated pricey restaurant Also whilst im in a rant and very disappointing mood , stuffing watercress into a yorkshire pud is not fine dining was underwhelmed. Poor service at a basic level food not cooked properly forgetting that the customer has worked hard to be able to afford the meal seems sad . not great value not a wow factor.
