Nice food, if not piping hot. Three young staff coped very well with a busy pub, serving drinks and meals.
Booked for the breakfast with Santa in September for today 17/12/22 at 1045. Ordered 3 full breakfasts, 1 kid’s breakfast and 1 kids beans on toast, 2 teas and a cappuccino. At 1140 still no drinks so one of us had to go up and collect them. Finally at 1145 we’d had enough and asked for our money back. Not enough staff to deal with the amount of people there and as people had to book they must have known how many people were booked in. No information as to how long the meals would be in arriving. It’s our local and at one time is was well run
Passed this pub on our way back from a day walking and stopped to have something to eat. The food was gorgeous the atmosphere was inviting and the service was brilliant. Very efficient yet attentive and really reasonably priced. Next time we are in the area we will be stopping by.
Arrived at 4:45 for Sunday lunch, told it was a 45 minute wait which was fine. We waited 90 minutes before asking the bar staff to chase our order. Waited another 20 minutes and nothing arrived. Asked for a refund and went elsewhere. This is our local but will now travel further to receive the service you pay for. The staff were constantly running round as it was busy but 2 hours to be left without service with small children waiting for food as well is too long. No explanation why the food never came and people who ordered after us got their meals before they even ordered the same main meals as we did disappointing.
Incredibly disappointing. We'd been twice before Christmas and thought the place was great. Went last week because they were advertising 50% off mains midweek in January. Only when we got home did I realise I had been charged the full amount. Rang up next day expecting a refund or a discount on the next visit, only to be told that I had to have downloaded their app, or have a voucher, to get the 50% off. No-one mentioned anything about this at any stage of our visit. I'd have gladly downloaded the app. Apparently it was all in the Terms & Conditions. Fair enough, but I guess this discount is aimed at getting people into the pub for a meal in January, so why not give people the discount when they turn up? I had no reason to think the discount didn't apply to all customers on those days. To increase the bad taste, I sent a complaint online to Ember Inns and nearly a week later have had no response. All round, an object lesson in alienating customers who would have returned many times over the coming months.
I went here for lunch with two friends yesterday, having previously booked. The pub was cold, some people were dining with their costs on. We were only having sandwiches but we waited one and a half hours for our food There were only two members of staff on the bar who were taking orders, serving drinks and waiting on the tables. They worked really hard and were very bright and polite but it was clear that they were understaffed. There were many other people waiting a very long time for their food. I would not go again.
Dined here for lunch around a month ago with my girlfriend, we ordered from the three course set menu, which in fairness was reasonably priced. Never have I experienced such painfully slow and dreadful service, it took almost 90 minutes for our main courses to arrive and this was only after asking at the bar. The food itself was very average, with both the fish and chips I ordered myself being frozen and cheap tasting, I also asked for no peas at the bar, this was acknowledged but still turned up with the plate covered in peas. After partially finishing our mains, we where left with the plates on the table for a further 25 minutes waiting for them to be cleared and desert to arrive. It never did. At this stage we simply had had enough and walked out. We wouldn’t have particularly minded if the pub was busy but we arrived just after 12pm on a Thursday and only six other tables where occupied the time we where there. We eat here for lunch around a year ago and the food was much better but service was still very slow, but given that the meal itself was nice we thought we would give it a second chance. After this experience I certainly wouldn’t give it a third chance and will never return or recommend it to friends or family.
Beautiful pub and thr staff were lovely. However the food wasn't too great. The starters took 4p minutes to come out. The breaded mushrooms were cremated. Couldnt put a fork through them. I work in hospitality so don't like to complain. However after waiting another hour for our mains to come out mine was stone cold. I had to send it back. Was quickly dealt with and rectified. It was lovely in the end.
We regularly eat here. In an era where price is definitely a factor we always feel we get value for money. Staff are always really efficient and come to check you are happy with everything. Would definitely recommend. We always book to be sure
I waited for my meal well after my friends had been served, customers who came in later were being served, when questioned I was told there had been a mix up and that my order would be out in 3 minutes, which it was. My fish was cold in the middle, when I was offered a fresh one the chef came out and informed me that I could have a refund, However, he refused to cook me another fish as it would still be the same as the first one, which he claimed was fresh onto my plate. To make matters worse, the duty manager offered us a free drink as an apology, I was not asked what I would like. He assumed I would have the cold drink I had been drinking while he asked my friends what they would like. They chose hot drinks, which I would have chosen had I been given the option. It was the worst service I have ever experienced.
