I took my son and grandson for lunch, on arriving we was met with a very helpful young waiting on staff, we was seated in a lovely place. Plenty of room. We ordered our food and didn't wait long for it to come, it was lovely and hot and well presented, we all enjoyed the food and will certainly be calling back in the future, would recommend the Korean chicken was beautiful, Thank you
Bit of a last minute decision to have a birthday meal out… so pleased we chose The Griffin. Right from walking through the door we were welcomed by Rebecca, seated, and left in the superbly capable hands of Hussein. Food was excellent, definitely a few levels above ‘pub grub’ Well done to all the team… we’ll be back!
Lovely pub nice and cosy. Food was good and the staff were so lovely and friendly. I am giving it 4 stars only because there griddle wasn't working so there was quite a few things you couldn't order. But I really enjoyed what I did have I had a garlic mushrooms on a crumpet for starter and mushroom and ale pie for mains.
Food was ok, nothing to rave about. Side salad was wilted and brown it had a dressing on, when it was replaced just got full plain lettuce leaves. Small portions. Won't be rushing back. Paid extra for brisket on top of mac&cheese was that tiny more like crumbs.
Duck was very chewy and I couldn't eat it. We told the waitress and she said she would let the chef know. The shared starter was very nice. The main meals were good apart from the duck.
I went with a friend last evening and we both really enjoyed our meals. The staff were all very welcoming and professional and even though the pub was full we didn't have to wait long for our meals. My friend had the battered cod and chips and my pork dish from the 'specials menu' was delicious. We will be back.
Went for a late Sunday lunch at 5pm.. it wasn't the best. The parsnips, turkey n roasties were dry n felt like they'd been kept warm all day. Not freshly made. The cauliflower cheese had a funny taste to it and the dessert cheesecake was very small n not as exciting as described on the menu. The starters were lovely. The staff and service you couldn't fault. Been for lunch _ tea on other occasions and food much nicer so maybe just a busy day or would of been fresher earlier on.
If I could have given no star I would have. The only good thing good was the service and the manager. Food was shocking…….!! Prawn were like rubber in the starters. Soup was terrible and tasteless. Cod came out and was dry and the sauce had skinned over, obviously left on the pass too long. Turkey dinner!!!, roasts and veg were awful, hard and uncooked, I don’t mind a bite but these were near raw. I had the burger and this came with chips that were also undercooked, it’s a bad day when you can’t cook chips….!! Then to the deserts, Oh my god! Several people on our table had the Sundea that came out and the presentation was deplorable, and when I tried some it was more like a milkshake…..!!! In all an overall majority vote, one of the worst meals we’ve ever eaten. Trading definitely required in this kitchen.
Excellent meal with my sisters last week even though the grill was off that day. We all had La Sagne which was really lovely. Good portion size and excellent service too. Beautiful and relaxing environment. We will be back...
I live in New Bold where there is no local pub. So I get to choose "My Local" for good food and a decent pint of real ale. Staff are always really nice. Just a shame I dont live in walking distance. But thats my problem, not theirs. Not had a bad meal or experience there in the last 2-3 years.
