Tasty roasts of beef & chicken, cajan crispy squid with garlic mayonnaise & pickled onions served by friendly staff in a dimly lit atmosphere. Cocktails of Virgin Mary & fizzy blackcurrant drink were enjoyable. The toilets need to be kept clean & smelling fresh!
A nice pub, very genuine, nice selection of beer and gin. The staff is very friendly. Didn't try the food so no impressions about that. What I mostly ejoied was an IPA - Half Time Oranges wich obviously has hints of oranges, it was quite a unique taste and I totally recommend it.
Love this place, haven't been in for a while. The decor still looks 'lived in'! Was a bit worried at first cause I thought they had no hand pump beer...then there on the end of the bar, shining and twinkling was Portobello Star...it was fab, nice and smooth with a lovely bitterness after mmmm! The smell from the kitchen always dominates as the Sunday lunches are being served. Been in today...23rd October they had Star and Autumn Red...both gorgeous!
Good roast dinner. roast chicken was delicious, massive portion and nice vegetables and gravy. The veggie Wellington was tasty but a little small. The pub was cold, then again, we went on a super cold day!
Handsome portions of well cooked food. Fair choice of beers and lagers. About to be refurbished. Currently has a somewhat post-industrial feel. It was quiet when we had lunch. Service was prompt and considerate.
Was an excellent pub but has recently lost something. All the old staff seem to have left and it doesn't feel as welcoming as it did. It's also very pricey for the area. Maybe it will improve.
I visited just before they closed for a refurbishment , it was not at its best but that was understandable .. I am looking forward to revisiting once the refurbishment has been completed ..
Staff are always really friendly My family come almost every Sunday for the past 6 months or so. Always enjoy the atmosphere mostly when they have a live band in. Roasts on Sundays are always good too I’m glad Forest Gate has a good and friendly pub
Don’t usually leave reviews but I’ve just popped in for a quick half but was made to wait while staff dealt with customers who arrived after me but had come for food. The bar wasn’t busy so could have just poured my drink and taken my money in a minute. Got to a point where it was taking longer than it needed to be, so I left.
£6.10p for one pint. I know I'm not up north anymore but Wowwwwwwww it was a good pint but bloody Norah. Lovely atmosphere and the food is decent, close to the station and friendly bar staff, great for local pride events.
