Nostalgia trip down memory lane to Forest Gate Hotel. Place felt familiar but odd, big TVs on the wall for sports nights. Bar person was friendly and the locals seemed to be enjoying the space. Will call in again when down that way.Service: 5/5
Horrible hotel, even intended for workers, very cold, dirty linen, I wonder how to get an operating permit and I'm surprised that there are no controls here... I don't know, but I give my opinion that even in the places specially arranged for street people, they have better conditions compared to what I met here...Service: 2/5
I mean it's a budget hotel for sure, and price range it's incredibly cheap for London, but do not expect a clean room, we got bit in our beds, the fridge absolutely stunk of stale milk I advise you don't open it. You share showers and toilets and they're not the cleanliness, we got greated by a manager telling customers to "**** off and go through booking.com". If anyone complains about the cleanliness of the room they just ignore you and assume your wanting money back. But it's a good location and if they really put some money into better training, then they could make something worth staying in
I know it's a budget room and it was ok for one night however both headboards on the beds in our room were broken and the room was very dusty. The building and interiors could do with some TLC.Rooms: 2/5
It was really bad experience. The Knob of the room heater was broken and room was boiling and after asking the staff their reply was I am sorry we can't do anything. Most of the staff was very unwelcoming. There was no breakfast on Saturday morning because the lady responsible for, didn't show up that day so we had paid for breakfast but didn't got one. The fridge in the room was all broken and dirty..
This is definitely budget accommodation. Potentially overpriced. A bit like a youth hostel but with private rooms. Shared toilets and showers. Doors to toilets and showers were in a poor state of repair. Some toilets didn't have toilet paper. The shower room seemed clean enough. The shower itself was good but the attachment to keep it in position was missing. No lock on shower door. I was in a twin room and it seemed clean with clean linen but that should be expected. Staff were friendly enough. The breakfast was ok. Nothing special. Personally I think they should do away with the breakfast and drop the price a bit. Downside of being above the pub/bar is that it can be a bit noisy....but that's to be expected. On the plus side there is a secure car park at the back which would fit a few vehicles. In short it could do with a good clean up and repairs being undertaken. I noticed that some people were smoking in the rooms. I did not like this as the smoke was drifting through the building. But I am very much against smoking and do not like the taste and smell and breathing it in. But I guess you have to consider how much you are paying and why you are using it. It can be quite subjective and some people will think it is fine.
I appreciate its cheap and a budget hotel, but the room condition was a joke, bits of carpet missing and replaced with misfit patches, shower that didn't seem to work, walls and ceiling grubby, tap missing...all this topped of with a rude employee who almost seemed angry that I asked if there was any vegan options....all in all a bad experience, AVOID
For the price, I have stayed in places that cost a lot more than this that also had no wifi or free breakfast. I really liked it here! Loved the breakfasts and the staff. Bed was comfortable everything was very clean. I will stay here again!
The one star is because the bed had an almost new mattress. And the bedding was clean. Beyond that the place was dirty, not looked after and dangerous. The carpet was stained walls were splattered with who knows what. There was soot/debris coming down the chimney. There was no head board on bed so you slept with your head under a window sill. The window didn't close properly so cold wind on your head all night. The window had no locks and there was scaffolding outside so anyone could get in. If you tried to open the curtains the pole fell on your head as it was not attached just balanced. There was a fridge microwave and kettle all divert not PAT tested and piled on top of each other on a slanted floor so the kettle fell off as it started to boil. Couldn't use the shower as would have got out dirtier the when I got in. Beautiful building could be lovely with some cleaning and staff who were bothered. Could go on for ever but just not worth a visit steer clear.
The best local pub in the area- homey and welcoming. A brilliant way to fight against gentrification is by supporting this truly lovely place.
