I went with a friend around busy hours. Staff were courteous and fast, and we were able to find seating without difficulty. The dinner was reasonably priced and arrived fast. We both loved the food's quality and the overall experience. I would recommend giving this place a try.Recommended dishesBurger and Chips
One of the nicer spoons I have been to! A quite modern interior set over 2 floors: there is also a terrace on the upper floor. The place is generally clean and occupied by locals from the early opening hours, though it is very very friendly and the service is pretty fast and food reasonably fresh. The toilets are a WALK. And some pretty memorable characters about, a perfect stop for people watching if sitting by the windows.
An outstanding Weatherspoons. Found myself stuck in Coventry on an unfriendly night. The very existence of the Flying Standard was a comfort. I had steak & chips; the steak was excellent - done to perfection, juicy & tasty. Chips were v good, too. Spoons are usually cheap & cheerful but don't expect too much of the food. The Flying Standard was a cut above. Thoroughly recommended.
Went on a busy bank holiday with 10 family members. Found seating upstairs, staff were polite and efficient. The food was well priced for good value and arrived quickly. Everyone enjoyed the quality of the food and the whole experience. I would recommend trying this place.
Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the 2 girls working behind the bar last 1/5/24 night. The way they spoke to my wife when she told them that we'd been given the wrong drinks was totally unacceptable and uncalled for. They only looked about 18 but acted more like 12. These 2 kids had no respect or manners and should never be employed in the hospitality business. Weatherspoons should really be more careful of what sort of staff they employ. These 2 would give any pub a bad name
It’s one of best place in Coventry for enjoying your time with friends or family, a nice place specially upstairs is so much better and calm and have a place for smoke , highly recommend.Food: 5/5
It was our first full day in the UK after traveling from Florida, USA so an obligatory stop at a Wetherspoons was in order and the Flying Standard was very conveniently located near the Coventry Cathedral. As is usual, good Fish and Chips with an Ale and a Cider.Food: 4/5
We enjoyed a cooked breakfast here on Friday, February 23, 2024. Food and drink were spot on - tasty, quality and cooked to perfection. Helpful staff delivered efficient but friendly service. WCs were spotless – and the same could be said throught the pub. We will return to this pub next time we're in Coventry and we will recommend it to others.
It's a an affordable good ambience place in Coventry. Most of the alcohol are at a cheaper rate and the cocktail taste good too. Most of the dishes are pocket friendly and affordable.. very good place to hangout with friends and family. Must visit place .. it has cuisine ranging from Italian, indian , continental food. Will visit again and will definitely try the breakfast once .. Enjoy eating
Rubbish... food burnt, just crumbled apart. 3 of us had nearly finished eating when the 4 person got their meal. Had to then put more money in parking just so 1 person could finish meal! The only positive was lovely buildingFood: 1/5
