The Fighting Cocks
"Tim, Kay and our friendly team welcome you to join us for drinks and to dine in our traditional forest pub where homemade food means stunning quality and made on the premises.Tim, the landlord, originally trained as a master butcher and now uses these skills in the kitchen. He personally cuts all our steaks, steak-burgers and sausages on the premises. We only use local New Forest venison, pheasant and rabbit in our seasonal game dishes which are prepared by Tim and his team of chefs. If you do not have time to dine in or prefer to eat in the comfort of your own home, no problem. We also sell packs of our homemade sausages and burgers. Keep this in mind when you visit us or are just passing by, take a taste of New Forest home with you!"

Lovely traditional pub in a fantastic location right next to the New Forest. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Not only do they have a broad range on the menu, but the food itself is very tasty and great value for money. They're also very dog friendly!
An amazing location for a pub and sits just before the end of the main road through the forest. Note that animal do roam around the car park. Great drink and food options too, even if you’re travelling past. Food and an alcoholic drink was around £15 each Parking: Open car park and animals do walk around vehicles
A wonderful pub located on the edge of the New Forest NP where you'll see an abundance of wild horses and wildlife whilst you sit and enjoy a meal or a drink. Dinner of beef and ale pie, a Tomahawk steak was delicious. Friendly staff and warm atmosphere.
It has changed hands since the last time we visited. The menu was unique and inclusive, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our four legged furry friends were also made to feel very welcome. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food choices and will be back again soon to try out some more of the menu.
Great food, good value, excellent service and lovely place to spend a few hours. Very dog friendly.Food: 5/5
What a little gem of a pub, don’t be put off by the smell of the local donkeys, we had an amazing meal outside in the sunshine, the steak pie was packed with meat and burger was delicious too, lovely staff .. entertained by the donkeys just mooching into the road and making the cars wait till they were ready to move Kid-friendliness: We didn’t have kids with us but play area at in the garden Parking: Plenty of room and a donkey to shine your car lol
Possibly the best steak pie iv ever had, portion sizes were amazing and very filling. We also had a toddler with us, and the choice of meals for him was great. Again, portion size amazing, will certainly return when out that way. Staff were also very friendly and accommodating, a great local pub that has the added bonus of where it is.
Great food and atmosphere, lovely on a summers day. Would say that this best pub you'll find in the New Forest.
Went to this nice country pub with a group of 6 and our dog. Great staff, you can tell its a family vibe there rather than a dictatorship like so many others. Lovely location in the new forest with lovely decor inside. Nice main menu choice and the specials board is huge! I had the breaded mushrooms for starter. Never had breaded slices of mushroom before so was a nice take on the dish. Had the fish and chips for main and that was very nice too and good portion size. Batter was on the sickly side but think this was because it hadn't drained for that long. And to top it all off they sell Rattler Cornish cider on draught!!!! This is my favourite drink and for me was the deciding factor to go to the pub.
Only two ales on both times we visited over Easter and they were really tasty and in excellent condition. Really good service as well.
