6 of us dined here on a not so busy Tuesday night. Service was great, location is ideal and the food was very nice and priced for the area. We had a really nice time and would definitely visit again.
Wow! After seeing the menu on facebook we thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did, it didn't disappoint. The new menu offering plant based, meat or fish options is exciting and delicious. The staff attentive informed, polite and charming. If you are in Crystal Palace go you won't be disappointed. If you live further afield it's worth the journey.
Great club nights with brilliant dj's. A bit pricy. Toilets get a mess quickly and don't really get checked through the night. Not many staff on hand. Needs a cloak room desperately.
Having tried most other places around the triangle we dined here on the weekday offer of two courses and a glass of bubbles for two for £50. While the starter and dessert were both nice, because they didn't have the pork belly we went for the burger which was really disappointing. Considering what's on offer elsewhere it was very basic, not great quality and one of them was essentially raw in the middle. It's a real shame as the restaurant is nice inside, but the food lets them down.
Very poor food and average service. We visited on a Sunday as we were too late to get a table at the Westow. The place was less than half full at 1pm - we should have known better! We ordered fish and chips and a chicken roast which arrived suspiciously quickly. The fish was overdone and deteriorated to the point it was difficult to actually get on the fork. The chips had been cooked earlier and reheated so they were pretty much inedible. The chicken roast was a bit better, but the veg side was similarly poor. Soggy carrots and broccoli hid a horrible cheesy creamy veg mix which tasted like it was on the turn. It's not cheap either - 15 quid for the roast and 13.50 for fish and chips. There are plenty of better options nearby.
Maybe the service is very variable, because I really don't understand, how can anyone not like this place. The decorations is just perfect. Each and every table is different, the floor is hard wood and there are all kinds of quirky little details. The food is just as good. I usually have the steak and so far it has always been very juicy and just rightly cooked. Additionally all the staff are very polite and welcoming, they work very efficiently and are really good at their job.
We went for a couple's dinner -- the food was super -- the fish was cooked perfectly, great cocktails and it was really a great experience on the culinary front. However, unfortunately, they are REALLY doing themselves a disservice with their staff. Our waitress could hardly speak English and clearly dithered so that we didn't get the 'early bird' special. She seemed to be in a bad mood all evening and took a long time to clear our plates. Then, they wrote our receipt out manually, after we asked for our bill twice and then decided to go to the bar to save time. Seems a bit dodgy to me overall. They also did not ask how any of our food or drink was. Very contradictory and a big shame.
First ate at The Exhibition Rooms in 2013, and the food and service were very good. Went there again yesterday but the same could not be said. Despite only three tables being occupied it was a Sunday evening, the waitress took too long to serve us. When my scallop starter arrived the pancetta was missing - it was eventually brought over when I had nearly finished. One of the mains - roast beef - was only lukewarm, and when one of my guests asked for a second glass of wine it never arrived. Also the music from the basement bar was too loud. After we left we all agreed not to eat there again.
Valentines day dinner spent here, have to say we were really impressed. The food was of such high quality, as were the cocktails. It was just generally a really lovely atmosphere, could not fault it at all. Will definitely be returning soon!
Started off the experience having to pick up my own menu from the bar as the staff were too busy talking. We were told the roast was £15 and included a glass of house wine. I said I would like a coke instead. The food arrived quickly and was pretty average but not terrible. Finally we asked for the bill and noticed they charged for the coke. We asked the waitress why, to be told the free drink was only alcohol: wine or beer. I told them I was driving and her response was 'look, I don't make the rules guys'. Absolutely horrendous service, and service charge inclusive in the bill... It's no wonder, no one would ever give it voluntarily!
