Must go place in Crystal Palace. The hidden spot near the commercial area. The market is divided into two sections. The first part is dedicated to antique, vinyl and vintage shops. In the second part, you can find a variety of homemade food, fresh veggies, fish, meat, and delicates. Ocupade by yummy mummies.
Great little local place hidden down some back streets. Good variety of local produce, and a huge selection of antiques in the 2 storey building next door. Well worth a visit!
A great local market selling fruit, veg, meat, fish, flowers and other goodies from local farms. Many items are organic. Stalls change weekly. Great choice of street food. I love the grain grocer who operates out of an old garage. Bring along an old container and stock up on walnuts, rice, spelt ect. I also love the refilling station for washing liquid. The cafe in the market is fantastic two. A great sense of 'keeping it local' and being kind to the environment.
Saturdays only with a dabble of mostly predictable food permutations and some artisanal/home-grown/organic produce. Unless local and out for a 'schmooze', equivocally unlikely to exceed expectations. Friendly, relaxed and worth investigating if footloose hereabouts.
Lovely weekend market, worth a walk to and enjoy for local delights
I recently had the pleasure of visiting a local market in my area, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. The market had a vast array of unique stalls, each offering something different and special. The first thing that struck me was the sense of community that permeated the market. It was clear that this was not just a place to buy goods, but a hub of social activity where locals came to catch up with friends and neighbors, and even make new connections. One of my favorite things about the market was the food. There were so many tempting smells wafting through the air that it was difficult to choose what to try first. There was something for everyone. But it wasn't just the food that made the market special. The unique stalls were a treasure trove of handmade goods and one-of-a-kind items that you simply couldn't find anywhere else. From handmade jewelry to artisanal soaps to vintage clothing, there was an incredible variety of goods on offer. It was a shopper's paradise! The sense of community at the market was palpable, and it was clear that the vendors and visitors alike were passionate about supporting local businesses. I felt a real sense of pride in the community, and it was heartening to see so many people coming together to support one another. Overall, I would highly recommend visiting this local market. It's a great place to experience the sense of community that makes this area so special, and the street food and unique stalls are a real treat for the senses. Whether you're looking for a special gift or just a fun day out, this market has something for everyone.
A perfect way to spend a Saturday. Pick up some groceries, eat a healthy lunch, talk to local producers. Dont miss the lamb wraps and the homemade granola!
Excellent food also antiques and record stall
Love this market. Small but perfectly formed. The wine place and the fish stall are fantastic as is the one you can get werid mushrooms from.
Always wanted to visit this market, but I was a bit disappointed after I made the effort. Obviously I was expecting the price will be more than the usual shop or supermarket but was prepared to pay the price for fresh produce. However, I was very disappointed when I purchased some rustic French baguettes and realised when I came home wasn’t fresh at all and seems to be at least two to three days old...very chewy and hard even after I tried putting them in the oven...and needless to say keeping any for the next day was almost impossible to eat. So very disappointed with the bakery stall. I also bought a small tub of smoked salmon pâté at the fishmonger for £7 which was too lemony for my taste. I bought some Indian food as well which were nice but definitely not worth the 3-4 times premium I paid because it was a market. I paid £3 for a vegetable samosa. In all I spent around £40 just for few items. The cakes looked nice and from £3-£4 per slices is not overpriced as other stalls...maybe I will try them next time. I do understand we are doing this to support local farmers, traders etc but not everyone is prepared to pay 3-4 times premium prices. I don’t think I will go back there any time soon.
