My second visit. Pad Thai was nice, I'd just prefer a bit more drier. Red curry was excellent. Both with impressive decorations. Tom Yum soup and Tom Koph also very good. lunch set on weekdays, 1 starter + 1 main Very friendly staff. Price-wise, definitely worth it for the taste, service and atmosphere. Plenty of parking spaces. Parking: Over 10 spots I think
We had a takeaway Sunday roast for the first time in a few months. Very tasty, excellent value, masses of food - too much for us to eat - and ready within 15 minutes of phoning. We have had their Thai food in the past and that was exceptionally good.Service: 5/5
Great pub/Hotel. Well situated just outside of town centre. Rooms comfortable with nice en-suite bathroom. Mattress a little bit too soft & lumpy but OK, excellent breakfast menu, food freshly cooked to order, Great value, friendly & efficient staff. Rooms: Good sized room with TV & en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries.
Has a great Thai menu, starters are a little on the expensive side £6-£8 for the amount of food you get, but main courses are very reasonably priced with generous portions. All the food tasted amazing and I'm looking forward to going back!!! They do some English dishes, standard pub food and also a Sunday roast from £17 a head. The staff are friendly and helpful and the bar has a good selection of drinks. The Emmbrook Inn is traditionally a local community pub and doesn't have a huge amount of space inside, so it can be quite noisy at busy times. We were there 18:30-20:00 on a Friday night and it was very busy and quite loud. There is covered outside seating tables and chairs at the front of the pub and some uncovered picnic tables at the rear. Wheelchair access to the bar/restaurant area is possible but there is no realistically accessible toilet. Entry is from the front, there is a one inch height of a paving stone 'step' up on to the paved patio area and then two more one inch 'steps' down towards the door. There is a large distance between steps so it is possible to bump down one step fully before getting to the second. There is no door cill, it is flat entry. I use a large electric wheelchair so was able to bump up and down the stairs without a problem but if the wheelchair has smaller front wheels it may be more difficult. With assistance, it is really possible and I'm sure the staff would help. The larger problem is no accessible toilet, the closest public are the BP garage on the reading road or the Dog & Duck around the corner. Parking: There is a small amount of parking at the rear of the pub, around 20-25 spaces. Did not stay - went in for a takeaway. Was our first takeaway from here and would be reluctant to use again Decided to try out for my wife's birthday - felt that the starter platter for 2 was slightly overpriced for the portion size - ribs are quite small. Pad Thai was disappointing - claggy noodles, little flavour and had minimal veg. Overall we found the food underwhelming but the staff fantastic. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I probably wouldn't return or recommend - sorry
Fabulous place to stay, and a chilled but bubbly atmosphere which was perfect for a meal and pints outside. Lovely staff made us feel very welcome, and purpose-built accommodation right next to the pub was just what we needed. Great menu with Thai and traditional pub options, and a decent selection of drinks and real ales.
Very nice place to stay. And the pub serves great food. Pleasant place to eat and drink.Rooms: 5/5
Lovely place and very authentic Thai food! As an Asian, I personally think it is the best Thai food in the town! Dishes are all in big portions and definitely traditional and authentic. We also love the local atmosphere of the pub. It’s a bit shame that we just found the restaurant after have been living nearby for three years. We would love to come back again!
Absolutely delicious meal tonight. Having had a few takeaway meals during the pandemic, this was the first time we’d eaten in, and we were really impressed! The mixed starter was piping hot, beautifully cooked and really tasty, and the mains were excellent too. The Garlic Beef, Cashew Chicken and Chicken Red Thai Curry all highly recommended.
Only had beer. Good pint, friendly staff. Good atmosphereLocation: 5/5
