From the warm welcoming atmosphere to the delicious food I cannot recommend this little find enough! Huge thank you to Sophie ,Brandon and Sammie for their chat and recommendations! 10/10 will be back asap!!Food: 5/5
Excellent Sunday roast, lovely cosy atmosphere with the fires burning next to us. Staff were excellent, so accommodating on a very busy day. We had the beef sirloin, would definitely recommend as the quality of the meat was very good. Also, a nice simple menu - just three roasts all priced at £20. Would definitely visit again, thanks!Food: 5/5
Its a real shame about the Drake. We've lived around the corner for several years and came here quite regularly. The menu used to be interesting, creative, hearty and freshly made. Now it's just burgers, like every other pub, and not even good ones. It was different, and now it's worse than everywhere else. Such a shame.Food: 1/5
Came for a date with my partner, just figured we’d try somewhere new and nearby and ended up having some of the best food I’v had in my life. Such a great wee place with a perfect atmosphere and lovely staff. It has the quality of someplace with a Michelin star but none of the elitist pretentious vibes. Absolutely lovely, will certainly be back
More well known for its food and Sunday roast dinners it’s a slightly different style of bar. Very discreet and low key. If your looking for somewhere you can converse or catch your thoughts I would recommend. Barman very friendly and a homely vibe
To expensive. I was in yesterday at 13.30 with wife and baby. This was my 4th and prob last time coming to the drake.. I've previously thought the price was fair. I'm now of the opinion I'd rather spend just a little more £10 per person at a high end restaurant and get high end food. See review below. 2 course and a drink each for £44 per person.. a Sunday roast each. Chicken wings and a dessert. Mocktail - £7.50 is a bit much. I guess when u pay top dollar you expect a top meal and it wasn't... There was postives though. The meat was actually nice and succulent. The cauliflower tasty and cabbage. The big let down the straight out of a freezer potatoes.. why!? They were not nice. The presentation wasn't as good as previous visits. And no broccoli. Chicken wings at £8 to me is a high price for a pub meal. I'd have gave 2 stars for yesterday but because previously I've been happy I upgraded to 3 stars. Service was good and friendly. The place was cold but they did put the fire on so no issue. 10% service charge on top of high prices. This should be a choice.
Was very disappointed with the service tonight, we booked for the sunday roast menu. Waited over 25 mins just for our drinks to come, then well over half an hour after that for our starter to come. Then another 45 minute wait after the starters had been cleared to get the mains. Left without having desserts as we were not going to wait again. 2 and a half hours just for starters and mains is awful. There was obviously some issue from the kitchen as most tables were getting food slow, however the service even for drinks or to keep us updated was very poor. There was a large table next to us, and we heard the staff apologising to them and differed a discount! All we got was “thanks for your patience” which came across patronising. We had to ask one of the bar staff what was happening as we waited for the mains and they said they would check the kitchen. Again no further update after that on when or what was happening. I will say though that the food was actually very nice and no complaints with that at all. Was rather pricey for meat and some veg £24 The cosy layout of the place is great as well. However doubt we will be back again after such a disappointing experience.
First time visiting. Walked past it when trying to find it. I am glad I double backed . Service could not fault, atmosphere not too busy just how I like it even though owner might not . Food was lovely. Only fault. More roasties less carrot and greens Food: 4/5
