This is up there in the Top 10 of Spoons. Lovely building, lovely courtyard outside shame it wasn't August Friendly helpful staff. Food and drink was of a good quality and price. Lovely open fire My only gripe is, it gets very busy on a Saturday night . But Sunday morning breakfast was quite and enjoyable

It must be popular here because it was rammed but I think that's down to the cheap price of food. For me I had a full English and it was average but a little cold although the price was good so 7/10Rooms: 3/5
As usual for a JDW pub with a range of quality beers at very reasonable prices served by friendly knowledgeable staff. We have yet to have a meal, but it all looked very good.
Visited for a bite to eat. Food order came quick even though busy. Meal was nicely cooked and waiting staff efficient and friendly.Service: 5/5
Nice hotel, spacious rooms, comfy bed and great shower. Wide selection of breakfast. The strange thing is that there is no separate reception, you just walk directly to the bar, which is strange and not really welcoming.Rooms: 4/5

Stayed here last night. Much nicer than I was expecting. A modern, clean room and bathroom. With shower gel, hand wash, bottles of water and tea and coffee making facilities. Very pleasant sitting in courtyard with a drink and meal last night too. Only very small negative was the 3 steps down from bathroom which couldn't be seen in the dark. If you stay in room 103 take care. Friendly staff, would definitely stay again if visiting nearby.
I decided to try breakfast for the first time, as a few people had said it was good. The quantity was spot on, however it was let down on three fronts for me....the egg had jelly around the yolk, the bacon was barely cooked with too much fat on it and I wouldn't call that toast as it was more heated bread that hadn't had a chance to go brown. Was asked how I liked my food cooked when I ordered at the bar, so I was disappointed.
