A little too up market for our tastes. Not really many comfy areas to sit. Selection of drinks was limited and expensive.

Lovely atmosphere whether meeting friends or a lunchtime drink and meal or for the football or sports upstairs in sports area. Food is great good value and well cooked too be it a meal or bar snack. Sunday roasts are fab too

Shocked. I am ex forces and fought in the troubles against the IRA, came to this pub to have a pint. The beer is atrocious, very watered down. I stated this to the employees and was told that I was just a crazy old man who knew no better. The disrespect I recieved was beyond anything I had witnessed. After all I am ex forces. There was very few British ales and the owner told me that if I didn’t like being called old that I should leave the pub. Disgraceful. Bob.

As far as pubs go this place doesn't really get anything wrong. There's a good selection of drinks from beers to spirits and even a cocktail menu. The food always looks good and there's a few screens up for sports etc.

While this is essentially "just" a pub, it's a nice pub. It's right next to the river and adjacent to the castle. Really quite close to Rochester train station and definitely walkable (over the bridge) from Strood train station. They do food though I must admit I have never eaten here. The menu looks normal food for a pub and others seem happy with it. It always has a number of customers which cannot be said for other pubs these days. I've never been in here and felt uncomfortable regardless of how busy it was. I've been in on my own to drown my sorrows (well, escape from a children's party) and as part of a celebratory group. It's well lit which feels warm and welcoming with a good cross section of people and ages. I think it's the default pub in Rochester and for good reason.
