Most unwelcoming, racist pub I've ever experienced. I watched /witnessed an ongoing situation between a group of locals and a couple of non local persons trying to have a drink, which management done nothing about. The non local gentlemen were verbally and racially abused , had food thrown at them and constantly provoked by the locals. management were aware and did not care, management were spoken to and didn't attempt to appease the ongoing racist remarks or ask the group to leave it alone as they clearly all know each other. Disgusting. Basically if you are not local, not English and not in a group able to hold Your own. Then Steer well clear of this hole or you will be given a hard time and started on by the locals. What a lovely place

I went to the Steam Packet for the first time last weekend, I found it a very friendly and lively place. The bar staff are very attentive and you get served very quickly.

So I usually always stop here as it's a 30 minutes wait for my connecting train on the Strood platform, or a two minute walk here. It's always been friendly, warm, and good beer. I usually pick up a bottle for the train as I leave. Makes a tedious journey much much better
