Lovely hidden gem... went here for lunch recently... lovely unique dishes full of flavour and beautifully presented. For the price, definitely worth it!
Huge portion for a very fair price. Could have done with more beans but was tasty!
First time visit here and we weren't dissapointed. Breakfast was brilliant and the coffee was perfect. Not sure if the ingredients have changed since being sold but doesn't taste like the sausages are local, that being said for the price you can't complain. Would recommend booking a table, we went for 11am and the place was busy. Would recommend this place for a good breakfast :
We booked an early Saturday morning breakfast at this lovely little cafe. It was calm with a friendly atmosphere with obliging and helpful staff. Our breakfasts were beautifully cooked and presented and our dietary requirements easily catered for without fuss. A really top place and we would highly recommend and visit again when back in Cheltenham. It kept us going all day!
I was dubious from the outside as it's in a side street and the decor inside is quite basic, but the staff were so welcoming, we were put at ease as soon as we stepped through the door. Fantastic quality locally sourced brunch and even better - they serve breakfast all day! Super friendly service and baby friendly. Portions a bit too big in my opinion but definitely excellent value for money. One of the best brunches in Gloucestershire.
Superb food, great staff - just a really good eatery. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful. The food is tasty with good portion sizes; I've been in for breakfast and Sunday lunch and both were lovely. They also do evening meals. As it is so good, they're often busy so it's worth booking , especially on the weekend.
I was very pleasently surprised with the food here. The pan fried sea bass I ordered was magic. Fish and veggies cooked to a level of greatness, with delicious sauce and very appealingly presented. I did not try their home-made desserts, but I will on my next visit. The venue is simple but has a sort of closeness and friendly feeling to it. Giving it 4/5 as I feel, in my own subjective opinion, that prices could be around 6-7% cheaper.
My wife's breakfast was gorgeous. However, I'd ordered the brisket hash which sounded excellent. After waiting 30 40 minutes for our brunch the waitress then turned up with the blackpudding rosti. She offered to change it but after waiting a while all ready I wasn't prepared to wait for them to cook another meal. I was really looking forward to the brisket and it was a poor replacement lacked flavour and didn't fill me. It was a shame because the other food looked excellent and the breakfast was lovely. We wasn't even offered a discount.
The food here is very good. We have heard very good things about The County Kitchen, but I feel the service did not live up to the food. There was a group of about 10 of us booked for 2pm on a Sunday, and calling to book seemed not that friendly, with a constant emphasis on "we close at 3pm" despite it saying on Google that they close at 3:30pm and their website saying 4pm!. When we were served, many of the group felt that our waitress made us feel as if we were an inconvenience, mentioning again that they close at 3pm upon arrival it was 2pm!, packing up the chairs on the tables and turning off lights at 2:45pm! We only had a main meal that we had pre-booked a few hours before. If the booking was a problem, why accept it? I feel it would've been a much nicer experience had the staff member been more friendly, polite and accommodating, rather than making us feel like were in the way. It's a shame because the food was actually quite nice!
This is my favourite restaurant in Cheltenham. It's a small cosy, cafe-style restaurant. I have never failed to have a great meal here, whether it was breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or simply coffee! I even took my fussy parents here for dinner once and they absolutely raved about it, not a grumble to be uttered! I do recommend booking a table whenever you go here as its quite a small place and does get busy.
