A lovely little country pub. There is a full farm shop inside the pub itself too. Plenty of outdoor seating. Bookings are essential if you would like a seat inside visiting on a Sunday. If you are visiting the area and walking on the Kenpp Castle Estate walking loop, you can drop through for a beer or a takeaway ice cream.
For 18 pounds for sunday dinner it's one of the best home cooked. meat that melts in the mouth and a lot of it .All the meat comes from local farms .The beer is always perfect.
I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked into this pub as I had read other reviews about people being dissatisfied with there welcome and service prior to arriving. but when I walked in I was greeted with nothing but kindness and lovely food today I genuinely had the best roast dinner of my life! I will definitely be coming back. don’t let these bad reviews stop you from coming here!
Old school pub. Nice food. Lovely setting & garden. Google said it is closed Saturdays & Sundays. But it was open Saturday when we visited. Landlord might want to update that. Dogs not allowed inside but we sat outside with ours which was fine but something to be aware of for the colder months.
Had roast turkey, all brown meat apart from one small piece of white breast meat, no Yorkshire & a dribble of gravy, roast potatoes were good, veg were ok but not enough for all of us. Waitress would rather have not been there & no atmosphere. Such a shame as a lovely pub.Food: 2/5
Two of us went for lunch, it was quite busy but they greeted us warmly and found us a table fairly quickly. Menu was great, as were fish menu and specials. I chose the Chilli Shredded Beef on noodles from the Specials Board. It was just the right amount of chilli and a good plateful. My friend had ham, egg and chips, but he couldn't finish all the chips. Staff very attentive and very pleasant.
Great pub and restaurant location with ample parking. Varied quality menu with all food served by friendly staff. Fine venue for a celebration meal or gathering of regular friends.
Great country pub with nice gardens and good views. Interesting menu with excellent choice of fish. Have visited on numerous occasions and always enjoy the food. Good service and coping well with Covid restrictions.
Lovely food fish and chips and good atmosphere. The village shop inside the pub looked to have a good selection of food.Food: 4/5
If I could give this minus stars I would. Made to feel unwelcome before even entering the pub, so many signs saying parking only for customers, dogs only on leads, dogs not allowed in the pub. I remember over lockdown the pub not allowing people to park and have a walk. My partner went in to ask if we could sit inside with our therapy dog, the man reluctantly said we can but have to go in the restaurant through the back and made a few comments. He said people wouldn’t like it and he is a very active dog, when we are inside in a restaurant he is very calm and doesn’t make a noise. We were made to feel like animals ourselves when their snooty clientele were coming out. If you want a down to earth pub, where the staff go above and beyond and couldn’t do anything more to help us and allergies then go to The George and Dragon. The Countryman Inn is clearly only in the business for the money
