Disappointed Another visit and another disappointment. As always the food here is good but the service continues to let it down. We had left it quite a while since our last visit for this reason and unfortunately nothing seems to have changed. Starter came out pretty much as soon as we had ordered it. Despite asking for the main not be bought out straight after the starter this fell on deaf ears and the main was bought out as soon as the starter cleared, when explained to the waitress our previous request we were told the food would only be sitting in the kitchen if it wasn't on our table. All this made it seem like somewhere you would go for fast food not "A stylish pub, for relaxed drinking and dining". Getting the bill was the other extreme. Some 20 minutes or so after finishing our coffee, the table not cleared, the waitress nowhere to be seen we decided to wait no longer and give up an already ruined meal and pay at the till on our way out for which we received no apology at having to do this. We have emailed the Cock Inn with our concerns and despite being promised a call back off the manager it quite simply has not been received.

Myself – ‘We have been waiting for the bill for fifteen minutes.’ Mr Hyde – ‘Alright, well I didn’t know did I!’ in a very aggressive tone. Mr Hyde turned to a member of staff and said ‘Is this number 11?’ Mr Hyde gave us our bill, no words were exchanged, no sorry, no thanks absolutely nothing but quite frankly after the day we had I wasn’t or my partner was in the right frame of mind to engage in a complaint nor advise on how we felt the service was that we received. We paid the bill (£53) and progressed towards the door, upon approaching the door I placed my receipt on the side to the left of the door as I wasn’t happy whatsoever and lend out to open the door. Mr Hyde the shouted from the check-in desk – ‘OY I DON’T LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE’, he then aggressively stormed over to where myself and my partner stood at the door (Check your CCTV footage for evidence) and was very close to my face shouting ‘WHAT’S YOUR PROBLEM?, I SUGGEST YOU SORT YOUR ATTITUDE OUT’. At this point I remained calm for my partners sake, as she had had the day from hell only then to be verbally abused and in presence of a man who looked as though he was going to swing for me. I asked Mr Hyde, ‘Are you the manager’ he said ‘yes!’, I asked for his manager’s name and he refused to give it to me. I advised Mr Hyde how disgraced I was with him personally and the food, he replied that he didn’t know we had a problem, although he was the one who removed the meal from the bill so that was complete lies. Mr Hyde continued to be abusive and threatened to call the police if I didn’t ‘GET OUT’, I advised Mr Hyde I would never ever return and he replied, ‘You’re not welcome here again, your barred’. Due to the above my partner has been disturbed by this, she felt threatened harassed and I was concerned for both of our safety, I have already sought legal advice and I have been advised to contact you directly first and foremost prior to proceeding my case. I am disgraced with what I have experienced and I am still in complete shock that a GM in any business could do such a thing, he should not hold a position of this kind no way. I would firstly like a call back on ******** before the close of business today with a director of the company before I proceed please. I was once a valued customer of your establishment’s – Never again. Yours Sincerely. Danny

Excellent service. Good fish and chips. Chicken salad good but broccoli Spears noticeable by their absence. Too much oil in dressing for my taste. Hence not five stars. Although will give it another try for Sunday roast next time.

Great food, waiting staff seemingly had no leadership though and were more concerned with dancing. Drinks orders take forever and is quicker to go to the bar yourself.

We had a midweek lunch. Service was slow - we had to wait over 30 minutes to get our drinks which only came after we chased them up. My husband's chips were cold, probably because they'd been waiting in the kitchen to be brought out. The restaurant area was busy. Whilst the 2 serving staff worked hard there simply was not enough staff on duty. Cod was good.
