Our stay at The Close for 2 nights was so nice. The atmosphere of the hotel was lovely, service was very good. The outdoor garden area was nicely presented to be able sit out and eat or drink. Breakfast was exceptional, with quality produce and waiting staff We also had afternoon tea and scones, which were the best scones, jam & cream I have ever had, so coming from Australia it was the perfect English experience for me. So, I think there is a very good chef there in the kitchen. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The bath products were of very good quality.nWe would definitely stay again, if in the area.
What a lovely stay here at the Close Hotel. Service is very professional and to the point which I really like. I was always treated well with a smile. The room was really good. Everything I needed was there. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I enjoyed a great night's sleep. The room was also very clean and tidy with a beautiful view over the back garden, which I must say is delightful. The room was called Nightingale.nRoom service was excellent, and the food was very good.nBreakfast I thought was my highlight, again, great service and delicious selection to suit everyone's tastes.nOverall, very satisfied and would recommend. Safe parking is available and easily accessible. The hotel is also right on the high street which is handy.
Rarely do I write a low review.nnHere goes. We did not stay at the hotel, but only ate at the restaurant out back in the garden.nnThe views were 5 stars, garden area was amazing. The service was almost non-existent. 4 wait staff for 5 tables, not busy at all. It took 22 minutes to get water. Table was dirty when we sat down and we had to clean it ourselves. 25 minutes to get a glass of wine and we had to remind the staff twice. They were just sitting around not working. We ordered a gourmet burger/fries, and my wife ordered a margarita pizza. The burger was perfect and I would give it 5/5, the fries were great as well.nnMy wife's pizza turned out to be a cheese pizza and I'm almost certain it was a frozen pizza. We asked what the pizza it was and the staff said a margarita pizza. No way, no tomatoes, no basil, just sauce and cheese and an undercooked dough base. If the service was better, I would not be writing this review.nnPlease make your food service match your hotel look and feel.
We stayed in this delightful hotel for 3 nights wef 19th August. I booked a Superior double Room as we were celebrating my husbands birthday. It was perfect. All very comfortable with a coffee machine a must for us coffee drinkers 2 armchairs, a bathroom with all toiletries, robes, slippers and an excellent shower.nThe breakfasts are all cooked to order which made a nice change from 'buffet style', and we had a nice meal in the restaurant and a bar meal on our last night.nThe staff were all so helpful and friendly and we could not fault our experience except......the weather!!!! We had so hoped to be able to sit outside with a drink or indeed eat a meal in the delightful gardens but not this time unfortunately.
Beautiful garden but unfortunately the food and service did not live up to this when we had dinner there. We always had to proactively call the waiter to order. My steak I ordered medium came completely done. I complained and they were so kind to take it back but unfortunately the second one wasn’t better.
