"The Churchill Arms lays claim to being London's most famous pub. Built in 1750, this Kensington pub was once frequented by Winston Churchill's grandparents and now many a modern day celebrity"
Address: 119 Kensington Church Street , London W8 7LN, XGL, GB
The outside of the pub is covered in flowers and looks amazing. Inside it is full of weird and wonderful bits and bobs. The food here was very good as the menu was Thai food, which even on a busy Friday evening was quick to arrive at our table in the bar and, more importantly, tasty. Service at the bar was friendly and quick. It's definitely worth a visit to such a unique pub in London.
This place is famous for its flower display but another equally attractive aspect is the Thai kitchen. The Thai dining area is at the back of the bar and open from noon. Great service and hospitality from Thai staff. I would recommend any dishes because they’re authentic except Pad Thai because it lacks a key ingredient which is tamarind sauc. “Pad si-ew” or “Pad nam man hoi” is worth trying. They’re both mild dishes. The bar section is at the front and you can have some aperitif there while waiting for the kitchen to open.
Simply love Fuller's Churchill Arms in Kensington Church Street. Been frequenting it for many a year and, when the lovely Irish landlord Gerry retired some years ago, I thought it would never be the same and, in a way, it isn't of course but nonetheless it's still very good. Beware the pub features in tourist guides and attracts many visitors from abroad and, as a consequence, can be heaving at times! To ensure we could find a table, the two of us arrived by 12.15pm for lunch. We prefer sitting in the bar area where it's more quirky and atmospheric but there is an adjoining Vietnamese restaurant. However, I think it's reservation only. The Vietnamese kitchen has expanded its menu and the Pad Thai at £13 I had the mixed for an extra £2 tasted as good as ever! Parking: In a built up area of London. If you can find a parking space it will be metered and very expensive. Best to go by public transport. Closest tube station is Notting Hill.
The Thai food in the pub is so good and tasty. The portion is huge! But only 1hr dining time which is a bit short, and the staff come check very often which is a bit annoying while we’re still eating our food. However I think I will visit again for the food. The pub itself is lovely, the decor is amazing.Food: 5/5
Amazing atmosphere. There are so many details and pieces of history all around. What was super important and nice was absence of loud music which allowed easy communication. The beer selection was average but they had some basic cocktail optionsAtmosphere: 5/5
Once you step inside, it feels like entering a Thai restaurant. The exterior is a pub, and the ambiance is comfortable and unique. There are plenty of menu options, and they offer authentic Thai dishes that are truly delicious. The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming.Food: 5/5
Fun spot and always busy! Great ambiance in both the pub and the Thai restaurant attached. The pub reminds me of The Temple Bar in Dublin.Food: 4/5
It was Pimm’s o’clock on an early summer evening! The Thai restaurant in the back smells delicious, but we already had dinner plans and just stopped in for a pint or two. The floral adornments on the exterior are worth the stop! It’s fun to see all the Churchill memorabilia and everyone, staff and visitors, were very friendly!Service: 5/5
Really nice staff and food delicious. Quirky Thai restaurant at the back of pub. Been twice, however the second time there were two mice running around under the tables which was slightly perturbing. Probably not their fault. Good value.Food: 5/5
The Churchill Arms Thai restaurant offers a variety of flavorful dishes, particularly their commendable curry and spring rolls. The food quality meets expectations and presents a satisfying dining experience. However, during my visit, I observed a disparity in service. While the food was enjoyable, the interaction with one staff member felt somewhat unprofessional and uncomfortable. This inconsistency in service based on different customers' backgrounds race could potentially affect the overall dining experience for some patrons.
