Just had a great experience here. Lovely food, great portions and friendly staff. Top experience and lovely to see such an old country pub still going strong. Interior has definitely been done up recently. Whole place was immaculate. Really nice evening.
Lovely experience eating here, the staff couldn't do enough for you and the prices and portion sizes are great. I had the whitebait starter and T bone main. The group of 4 of us all had different starters and mains so we had a really wide selection to try and all of them were really nice. There are 4 small chalets there too which would make a good overnight stay if you felt like staying! One thing I'd say is call and book! All the good places are busy so make sure you can get a table before heading out! Overall a lovely experience by all of us. Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian selection. Kid-friendliness: Lots of families were in there and dog friendly too! Parking: There is plenty of parking. Wheelchair accessibility: The car park is flat so a wheelchair would be OK as would using sticks/crutches.
Great pub with a good menu but on the day we visited they had had a problem with their supplier. This meant that a lot of the choices weren't available. Having said that, the staff were really good and, finally, a pub with EV charging, free for customers too. This is the way ahead. We'll done all.
Visited here for a family celebration. The pub itself is very nice, very clean & the service OK There were only a couple of items that the waitress pre-warned us were of the menu. To my delight on the specials was my favourite fish, skate. This was served with new potatoes & broccoli. I was so disappointed by how the skate was cooked. It had a hard crust on top, not salt, & the whole plate was covered with an oil of some type which the more I ate the more the whole meal became sickly. Some bits of the broccoli were black. I was really disappointed with the whole meal. Husband had a meat pie served with peas & mash but the pie had an OK taste but the dinner was dry even with an extra small gravy jug. The pub part of the restaurant is also dog friendly with a couple of small one there when we visited. Parking: There is plenty of parking here.
What’s happened? Went for a meal with 8 out of us Sunday and it was not great. Two hours overall for starters and mains, my mains were stone cold and some of the starters were bizarrely laid out. Did the chef not come in? Two stars not one as one of the servers took off my mains off bill and discounted bill. She was a trooper, management need to sort this out as a lot of people were complaining.
Excellent meal, brilliant service and reasonably priced. Eaten here 3/4 times now and every time it has been exceptional. Thanks very much
"Babe, Babe," my ol' Dutch said when we'd finished our tucker. "Do you know what I would do if ever I went to a restaurant and I wanted to complain about the service?" "No, my little chocolate-chip cookie," I said. "What would you do?" "I'd go home and light a stick of dynamite then I'd phone the restaurant. When they answered I'd hold the lit dynamite next to the phone's mouthpiece and say, 'Hear that? That's dynamite, pal!'" "Well," I said, "let's be thankful that we got good service here." "Are you going to eat those last few chips...?" "Yes!"
Always enjoy coming to this pub, food is good. Very enjoyable each time I have beenService: 5/5
This place is just not the same anymore, barely any atmosphere. The food isn’t as good for some reason. Service is poor, I wouldn’t suggest coming here. It used to be a lovely place but not anymore.
While the pub itself is nice, it was very quiet so it was surprising that there were already items off the menu. Also a mix up by serving ordinary garlic bread instead of gluten free, while this was settled amicably it could have had serious repercussions. Food itself was quite nice ham eggs and chips but would advise double checking of special requirements
