My Partner was due a Colonoscopy but was told 2 hours before the appointment that they had to cancel due to not having the equipment. After all the discomfort of taking the laxative solutions and having a sleepless night, and even speaking to them twice on the phone the same morning, where nothing was mentioned. They rang her at 12.30pm to cancel. They must have known earlier whether they had the equipment for a book procedure. Very disappointed.
My husband was due a MRI scan today & when we saw the Southend number on his mobile we knew that a cancellation was going to happen as we had read the Google reviews & couldn’t believe a private hospital was only scoring 3.5* on its reviews with the vast majority citing cancelled appointments. On Chartwells glossy website it only posts 5* reviews which must be from their private clients rather than NHS referrals It’s a shame the NHS has to use such poor facilities as the Care Quality Commission rated them “requires improvement”in May 2022, which I’m sure many of their clients will agree , the hope the NHS gets the support it requires Gave 1* because you can’t post 0 & the caller who called me was polite
Had a very distressful gastroscopy Monday. I appreciate it was the hottest day ever but if they were in such a rush to get me out I’d rather they had cancelled. I was not given enough sedation, therefore gagging not happened on previous ones so no biopsies done because “I tolerated it poorly “ no time to recover, ushered down to reception with a cup of water. When my husband arrived receptionist watched me wobbling to the car! Totally distressed by the lack of care.
Got a phone call from someone , today , I was threatened to delete my current review if I want to attend this clinic for another appointment, I will never step foot into this clinic ever again . The person on the phone acted like I was the only giving a negative review and absolutely spoke to me in a very horrible manner as If it was my fault . I phoned my Gp earlier today and they referred me to someone higher where I spoke to a woman and she let me know that nothing like this exists and my daughter was allowed to come in and translate to me as it does not make sense for a family member to not be allowed to translate. I will not delete my review and the person that I spoke to can threaten me as much as they wish . I am making a complaint to the ombudsman, this is honestly very horrible.
Shockingly poor service. I was booked in for an MRI this morning at 9am. At 8.28am this morning when my daughter, who took the morning off work to drive me, and I were 2 minutes from the hospital, I had a phone from the MRI department to advise the MRI was not going ahead and had to be rescheduled. The adviser said they had made several attempts to contact me. Shame on them as I had no missed calls from their number and no one, despite me making 2 calls yesterday for them to confirm the appointment was going ahead, had called me back. I did, however, have 2 text messages, one at 7.38 this morning, confirming the appointment was still going ahead. I am led to believe this is not an isolated incident, and the clinic overbook MRI's and then cancel Southend Hospital referrals at the last minute. Hardly suprising they have such poor ratings in the latest CQC report. Please note, you can only post here is you give them at least one star instead of zero stars!
CQC overall rating Requires improvement That rating is a generous one in my view. Like others here my partner was not allowed to eat for 3 days, then on the day the appointment was brought forward then 2 hours before cancelled. Apparently they didn't have a doctor to do it....what and they didn't know that when they brought it forward? So it will be another day without eating. When they cancelled they didn't even inform of the protocol that should be flowed so had to call and find out! So 4 days off work now and 4 days without food because of poor management So the next day whil awaiting the procedure my partner was told they just over run...so all this about not having a doctor to do it was untrue. This clearly isn't a isolated issue as others have had the smme issues
Hi, I would just like to thank everyone at Chartwell Hospital, Leigh on Sea for helping me feel relaxed throughout my short stay due to me being extremely nervous about my procedure. A wonderful and an extremely caring team. Thank You All.
Went for a sigmoidoscopy yesterday and followed all correct pre prep including a limited diet 48 hours before, and stopping eating 24 hours beforehand. Was phoned up in morning to ask I'd would like to attend an earlier app to which I said yes please. I thought I'd be able to eat quicker! On arriving was sitting in the waiting for about 15 minutes when I was greeted by the endoscopy lead deputy, asked me several questions but when I didn't give the correct answer to one she instantly said ''I doubt you'll be having that done today'' phoned upstairs to check and she said I've got our last patient of the day with me. They said no to not being able to do the procedure. Makes me wonder if I had my original app, if things would of been different as longer time would of passed. She wanted to offer me this morning instead to come back and would give me more liquid to drink, in which this lady thought it was acceptable as I hadn't eaten for 24 hours to endure another full day 72 hours in total without eating. She had offered me Saturdays to which could of been an option due to nature of work. I left really upset to the point I was fighting back tears and all I got 'its your health, its your health' answer. Came home and composed myself and phoned up and enquired about saturdays, they said they are not a permanent feature yet, so was given wrong information. Also no other availability for 6 weeks. My originally app was 2 weeks - reasonable People need to go to these appointments as a matter of urgency. It took a lot for me to attend as I was so worried, now I need to wait a further 6 week plus to attend again and re do it. Few times conflicting information was given, reception told me it was advisible to self isolate once PCR, apparently it was compulsory, i did as wouldnt had energy to go or do anything anyway, but not my point. More questions need to be asked on pre assessments to ensure right amounts of things are given to patients in order for procedures to go ahead!! One positive though the lady on reception who greeted me was lovely and friendly very chatty.
I had appointment at 4.20 i was told to come in at 12.20 had to rearrange my lift not a problem got there at 12 only 3 people in that afternonn includinding myself i then waitied 2 hours why ask me in early so i wait 2 hours i walked out disgusting organisation
Had neck and brain mri yesterday, was so anxious , my dad was allowed in room and the staff were amazing putting me at ease
