Attended a dinner and dance function at the hotel with my wife and daughter and we stayed overnight. Both rooms were tastefully furnished, plenty of space, clean and very comfortable. Checking in and out was super easy and the quality of food and service at our event was excellent. Absolutely nothing went awry during our stay and the breakfast was excellent putting this hotel on par with many brands of hotel and better than most.
Connor at the desk and the rest of staff were very helpful and absolutely lovely! Bar staff and breakfast staff especially Diane were great! Room service missed some items but was fine overall. Food is very good and rooms were excellent. The garden might be our favorite part of the Bull Hotel experience. Can't wait to visit again!!
I remember staying at the Bull in the early eighties when it was a fine dining, top quality much smaller hotel for the area. I decided to try it again after so many years. Gone has the fine dining and my dinner was served in the bar area called the Conservatory lounge as the Beeches Restaurant was closed! that was noisy due to a wedding party; then kids running about screaming after everybody moved to the adjacent room. There are some lovely rooms downstairs, part of the old building that could have been used for a better experience. The menu is more up-market burger joint with a few choice moments, however, the quality is extremely good and is accompanied by a compact but ideal wine list. I'd give the food quality and wine list 4 stars. Onto the bedroom. It was a good size, clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable with enough pillows. Unfortunately I was woken up by chat in the car park it overlooked bloody wedding guests again!. Bathroom is 2 stars with an in-the-bath shower, on the wall squeeze shampoo and body wash plastic dispensers. No extras at all; no water, no kettle etc, it was as good as a Premier Inn bathroom. In the bedroom were some old 'brown furniture' pieces from days gone by - wardrobe, desk, table and chairs. My stay was generally disappointing and I wouldn't recommend The Bull. If you decide to persevere, call before to check there is no private event going on.
We got married here 5 years, deciding to come stay for our 5 year wedding anniversary and it just reminded me how much of a lovely hotel it is. Staff are so polite and helpful, rooms are beautiful and immaculate. Food was lovely. I cannot fault it one bit.
This is not our first stay at the Bull. This hotel is in a great area. We stayed for 5 nights after flying in from Canada. The beds are very comfortable, the area is quiet and safe and the staff are very friendly. We requested no room service but when we needed anything we just had to ask. We had a barking dog next door and we did report it to the front desk. That was immediately taken care of and we never heard from the dog again. The breakfast and staff are great. I had oatmeal cooked to order every morning and my husband had a full cooked English breakfast. We will be back before flying home in a few weeks time.
