Tom the manager was very welcoming and pleasant. The rooms were dated and tired, carpet was stained and the water pressure for the shower was lamentable. I believe they are awaiting refurbishment, but they shouldn't be let until that's completed. Rooms: 1/5
We had a work xmas lunch there. I enjoyed mine, but others complained, for various reasons. The seating for a large group of people was wrong, but the day was pleasant and staff pleasant.Location: 5/5
We had a good experience here after staying last minute following breakdown. Tom was friendly and welcoming , room was a wee bit dated but functional and clean. Breakfast was lovely and lady serving really welcoming . A nice family stay given the circumstances we enjoyed - good to support local!
We haven’t stayed we go for the excellent food and atmosphere we travel down the 74 from junction 8 Larkhall we especially love the carvery Tom and his staff a very good see you soon thanksService: 5/5
We stayed here for a couple of nights as a family. We had a family room that comprised two sleeping areas, one with a bunk bed and one with a double bed and single bed. It was clean and had plenty of towels, etc. The rooms are very reasonably priced per night. You have a key to open the main door to the hotel that is closed at night. We had dinner at the hotel in the bar area. We got told it was limited range just now, but what we had was excellent homemade style food. The breakfast was your standard Scottish Breakfast affair. They take an order from you at the table and bring it all out hot. You also have a choice of fruits and cereals, croissants, etc, to help yourself. The staff are all accommodating and friendly. The location is convenient for central Lockerbie; the train station is a short walk away, and the town of Lockerbie has a few takeaway places, with the most prominent stores being Tesco and Home Bargains. To get about further afield, you really need a car or use the local taxi services. I would highly recommend Karen from PA Taxis and Sandy from Sandy’s Cab, both friendly. I would stay here again and will also consider using it for functions as they have a nice big function room.
From the moment I called to enquire about rooms and a possible late check in I knew I was in good hands with Tom the manager. Tom was flexible and accomodating, upon checkin everything was professional and very much welcoming. The single room I booked despite apparently being scheduled for refurbishment was top notch and certainly good value for money. Everything is spotlessly clean and a credit to all concerned. The few days I stayed in town all staff at the hotel were lovely and the bars always pleasant with a good selection. The town itself is a lovely spot to stop on the way north or back south for that matter. Theres a few lovely walks and plenty of interesting shops around the town including antique/bric-a-brac shops at either end of the main street. Should the opportunity present I'll certainly stop in again.
Great food, really friendly staff, thanks to Lizzy for entertaining us in the bar Food & drinks: The food was so tasty and good value
Disappointed. In the centre of the town and has off road parking for bikes. Staff were excellent as was the food, both evening meal and breakfast. BUT, the rooms' window, I had no5, was right by the kitchen extractor outlet and the room smelt of cooking with window open. The bathroom was the real weak point as it wasn't properly cleaned. No excuse for that level of cleanliness. A real shame. Get the bathroom right and would stay again.
Kings Arms Lockerbie - VERY dissapointing! Went in for a 5.30pm reservation for the carvery. They only serve it til 6pm which is ridiculous, anyways… Walked in to be half greeted, then stood for a further 10 minutes before half being asked if we were okay? We were then asked if we wanted 1 or 2 courses as we NEED to pay for it now. I have never paid for food before it’s been served before. I tried to explain that we don’t know if we want 1 or 2 courses as we hadn’t even seen the menu, let alone know full we are after our first course! Walked out with hungry children in the end and as very disappointed customers. Made to feel like an inconvenience and certainly will not be back!
Tom was very helpful and friendly. The room was fresh and clean. The breakfast was outstanding, very well presented and good choice. My poached eggs were perfect. Would recommend.Rooms: 4/5
