Food was good and the pub is clean. I recommend this place, however please start accepting cash again. I was visiting from America and every time I use my bank card outside my country I am charged large fee's. Also, not everyone wants to participate in cashless society. I prefer paying for all services in cash. I cannot count how many establishments I avoided in London, simply because they didn't have the ability to accept cash.
I stayed at The Brownswood Inn for 3 nights and it was one of the best hotel stays I've ever had. The room was very nice, comfortable, and clean. All the staff there are extremely welcoming and friendly, and the owner is one of the nicest people ever! I was able to pre-select my breakfast choices for my entire stay and the breakfast was fresh and delicious! And, in the evenings, the first floor of the Brownswood is a pub, so it's very convenient for guests to enjoy a pint or even order dinner downstairs. Overall, I would highly recommend the Brownswood to anyone who is looking for a cozy place to stay at a very reasonable price.
If you wish to be treated with respect please avoid at all costs, its not worth a penny. Terrible is a compliment. My friends and I made a booking for Christmas dinner, we were seated separately after we request to be together, and there was space and tables to accommodate. Then they made us come down a pay for our food before it was served, even though we had pre booked and ordered the food. They were unable to complete our order together with other tables being served in-between. My food went cold as I waited for missing items. My friend was denied extra gravy to share between us, due to a so called gravy to roast allocation. Plates were being cleared before everyone had finished eating. Later after our meal we wanted to play a game of guess who and one of us went to the bar to ask for a pen, the staff member then said " no because you will tag the bathrooms " this is an utter disgrace and no way to treat your customers. Do you train your staff or simply pick them off the street. What a joke of an establishment.
We’ve tried most of the roasts locally and this has got to be the best! Absolutely delicious, really great portion size, brilliant value for money and wonderful staff. Mike, the manager, is so friendly and personable, which makes us come back time and time again. Couldn’t recommend more.
This is a fantastic place to stay! Rooms are comfortable and quiet, breakfast is amazing. The pub downstairs has good food and a lively atmosphere.Rooms: 5/5
We stayed here to be close to family we were visiting. Our room was very spacious and well appointed. We received a very warm welcome when we checked in. Food served in the pub was excellent.Rooms: 5/5
I have been here many times over the last few months and every time the food has been delicious and the service speedy. Their Sunday roasts are a particular favourite of mine!
Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic experience! Thank you very much. Next time we go to London, we will definitely go to this place again.
What a lovey hidden gem in the north of London. Immaculate rooms with great attention to detail. Me and my wife stayed in the Double Deluxe Room and were blown away by the decor, cleanliness and aesthetics of the room. What made our stay even better was the staff, Dita is an amazing host, very attentive and welcoming. Can’t wait for our next visit. :D
Popular climber pub. Nice staff, food is okay, not great. Nice garden. Fun pub quiz. Good selection of beers, but quite expensive. A far cry away from the raucous pub it used to be, but much more gentile for the crowd around Stoke Newington now. No TV for football / sports events, sadly.
