Wow, if ever there was a loo that was almost perfect is was at the Briar Dene.  I can only go on the Gents toilets here but I suspect the ladies were equally as good.

These were one of the cleanest loos I’ve been in for a long long time, no smell, very clean, tidy, well maintained and everything within was well in good working order. 

Now I know this place was recently renovated and should still be at a high standard however as we all know, sometimes the best looking hotels have horrible loos.

Anyway, well done Briar Dene. 

Ps.. Only had a buffet following a funeral but food was fine. Staff were very friendly and helpful when looking for alternative drinks.

It's lovely inside and this was only our first time there so not sure if this is the norm but service took a long time although it is a Sunday so should be expected. My portion of Sausage with mashed potatoes was tasty but it was smaller than a meal you get on a flight abroad.
Maybe we will give it another visit in the future, as ling as we are not hungry

beef Sunday lunches. One very fatty, one very tough. The rest of the meal mediocre. We did mention this and were offered one complementary dessert.  Which we declined. Serving staff are great but the food lets them down. Decor is nice. I’d go back for a beer but not for food.

Loved the decor of The Briar when we arrived.  The staff were very accommodating and attentive. The only reason we didn't award 5 stars is some of the dishes did seem a tad pricey for the amount of food received (e.g. tempura king prawn starter,  delicious but just 4 prawns, fish of the day (Friday) was fish pieces, the amount was virtually identical to the the child's portion of fish and chips) however, this wouldn't deter us from returning. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Excellent fish Choice on the menu. Recently returned very tasteful. Really friendly staff.
