On the River Great Ouse our unique converted mill boasts a cosy bar, dining room in the eaves & two al fresco dining areas on the river's edge.

Story

Positioned on the River Great Ouse our stunning country pub is the perfect location to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A converted mill, our unique building is filled with cosy corners, comfy armchairs, open log fires, boasts an impressive dining room which can seat up to 70 and also a private dining room. Chef's freshly prepared menu and our carefully selected wines, ales and lagers are served daily from lunch right through until dinner.

An excellent experience all round. We were just travelling through on our way up north and fancied a dinner that was a bit classier than a service station fast food type of thing. Checked out family friendly pubs in the area and found here, so didn’t know what to expect. We eaten from high end London eateries, to bargain basements and enjoy all types of food. The food here is very good quality. Enjoyed the range, which is varied, as did my 2 kids. It strikes a good balance between quality, presentation (The dishes were well plated up and we sat in a modernised, yet rustic old mill by the river) and value. We had (2 adults, 2 kids) had 3 courses with a few drinks for under £100. Maybe it’s because I’m used to London, but that was slightly cheaper than anticipated.

Have been coming to the Brampton Mill for many years, seen it have many owners and the quality and price vary accordingly. The location is fantastic on a summer day, sitting in the meander in the river overlooking the surrounding countryside - we take an hour walking from home across the meadow, stopping for food and a beer before heading home. This time around it was four star, helped by the April mini heatwave!

Service was nice and pleasant although there were a few areas of concern - upon arrival the host was busy on the phone for a while and no one else attended to us - food was well cooked although roast potatoes were less than crispy and a small portion along with the veg for the size of the meal. - crackling was lovely and crispy but needed salt for full flavour. - the road to access it is in appalling condition. I was worried I had popped a tire or suspension at one point. However the atmosphere, sevice and dessert were excellent.

This place has such potential. The building is amazing but it just lacks the final touches that would make it stunning. The food was average and the price did not reflect the quality. The service was good. The driveway leading to the mill is also in very poor condition and my car bottomed out going through one of the pot holes. All in all this place has massive potential, but didn’t live up to my expectations.

Excellent food, good service, nice location. Few beers to choose from but more of a restaurant than a pub. Historic building and rooms restored well but car park can be very wet underfoot.
