We had a very enjoyable stay here. We were 'room only' so can't really comment on food or drinks. We stayed here to enable us to attend my Nephews 21st party. I had really hoped to go for a swim before leaving, but the lure of Bury Market was just far too strong! Not surprisingly, this place is a superb wedding venue. The location, and the grounds, make it just perfect. Our room was nice. I'm disabled, so our room was on the ground floor. Pleasant decor. Decent size. And clean. My only moan is the lack of disabled parking at the entrance. I'm on crutches, and each time we returned, had a long walk for me! across the car park. There was ONE space, but not much room around it, and it was always taken. We were quite impressed, and will definetely stay there again when visiting our family in Bolton.
Very poor value for money. This was probably a nice hotel in the 80s however they have failed to update and my how it shows. Threadbare carpets in the smelly corridors, dated decor and dusty dirty yellow lighting. Our room was small with poor quality furniture although I liked the mattress. The TV was old and small and none of the channels worked . The bath had no plug and when reception got us one it leaked from underneath appearing in the carpet in the bedroom. We complained but whilst it was noted down there was no attempt to apologise. Music from the wedding in the hotel pumped out till midnight and children and adults alike sang and screamed in the courtyard surrounded by bedrooms. Service in the bar was poor despite having a wedding event. The breakfast was nice and the dining room modern and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Swimming was available included at The Stables a short walk outside and that was a very high standard, modern clean and warm with lots of facilities from saunas to plunge pools. Overall at £134 for two I'd much rather have stayed in a Premiere Inn. Update, after complaining directly they kindly refunded 50% of my booking fee.
Booked in for Spa weekend in December with my friend. Staff very friendly and helpful. Made me feel very welcome. Receptionist brought me coffee and biscuits whilst waiting for my friend to arrive and we had a chat. The hotel was spotless and so was our room. Good choice on the menu for evening meal. Breakfast was self serve and an array of food to choose from. Couldn't fault the hotel or food. The only thing that concerned me was the walk along the cobble stone road to the leisure club for the spa. There is a lack of lighting from hotel to the Spa. It was icey no grit thrown down and dark. For the H&S of the hotels customers lighting should be installed. Apart from that issue , we enjoyed our stay.
Stayed here for two nights while visiting friends for the weekend. Staff are amazing, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms have had what appears to be an attempt to update them, however the execution isn’t fantastic. The bathrooms are dismal with a shower that is unnecessarily difficult to use and there isn’t even a hairdryer which I would expect. The bed was sagging so badly in the middle and was extremely uncomfortable. The hotel holds multiple functions which unfortunately meant it was very noisy, we were woken at half past one in the morning to yobs fist fighting in the corridors, who nearly broke down the door to one of our friends rooms. There is no sound proofing and despite quiet notices in the corridors, fellow guests don’t seem to be able to respect this. The breakfast provides the standard hot and cold options and you can request additional items if you have dietary requirements such as vegan etc. the spa facilities are a short walk across the site in a country club. They actually have some great facilities and are incredibly clean. Gym, two pools, multiple hot tubs/jacuzzis and steam room + sauna. I was particularly impressed with the plunge pool which was actually freezing! Overall I wouldn’t stay again as I don’t think it’s particularly good value for the cost.
nice hotel in lovely grounds plenty of walks the hotel is dog friendly we didn't have a dog with us but a friend we met there did. all the staff were friendly and helpful the room was clean and well-equipped breakfast was amazing and we made use of the spa that was attached to hotel and enjoyed a swim. It's in a great location and we will return in 2023
Very tired looking motel. Uneven driveway leads to large car park adjacent to pleasant pond area. Clean and tidy reception. Our room was dog friendly but looked rather worn out. Peeling wallpaper adjacent to bed damp?, cobwebs on ceiling, flat batteries in the TV remote and concave mattress all point to lack of maintenance and poor attention to detail. Bathroom was fine but no non-slip mats available nearly broke my neck!. Excellent breakfast. Difficult to recommend.
Friendly staff and a lovely setting for the restaurant and bar, but my room looked very tired. I searched for online reviews and found numerous photographs of cracked tiles, torn wallpaper and stained carpets. They matched my experience, sadly. However, the room was clean and serviceable, so while it was a little disappointing, it's not something that would affect my decision to stay there again. Access to the neighbouring leisure facilities at Stables was excellent.
I don't like writing bad reviews and to be honest this isn't about trashing the hotel it's just a few things that could be better. Let's start with the good though. Amazing grounds. The room was big with a great view and the staff were super polite and helpful. Now for the few bad bits. The room / bathroom could have been cleaner and there were no towels or toilet roll in the room on arrival. The walls are super thin and people walking down the hallway literally sound like they're in your room. As I'm typing this I can hear someone snoring in the room next door. The wi-fi was also pretty much non existent but again to be fair that's most hotels now days. None of these things are bad enough to say I wouldn't stay here again and a few of them could easily be rectified.
I would like to say a big "thank you" to all the staff. We came for a family break and as we arrived my mother was taken ill and required an ambulance literally from the car park. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and considerate and organised everything in a calm and professional manner.Rooms: 5/5
I was in room 29 and the shower just didn't get hot. But other than that I thought it was great value, it was clean and very comfortable. The location was a bit obscure, and parking is a nightmare if you arrive/leave after dark. Noteworthy details: The TV has Netflix so you can watch whatever takes your fancy.
