Didn’t stay but the food was brilliant. Best Gammon I’ve had in a longtime. My daughter said it was the best Pizza she’d ever had kids pizza and my other one loved her spaghetti. Husband had the chicken from the brunch menu and loved that. Service was friendly and helpful too.
We only came by to eat dinner and weren't disappointed. One of the best fish and chips i have tasted. Great fresh fish. The veggie burger was delicious, I didn't miss the meat at all. Would order again. 10/10
This is honestly one of the worst meals I’ve had in a very long time. The food was appalling. The starters were bland, lacked flavour and really quite weird combinations of food - not sure who designs these menus but the fries tasted like they were out of a packet frozen with some cheap BBQ sauce on top. We then ordered the Sirloin steak for dinner - at £32 this is a punchy price point & one you would expect at a good London restaurant. This steak tasted like it had been frozen before & then heated up with a hairdryer. It was not cooked well at all, it was rare and not in a good way even though we asked for medium rare, tough, chewy and full of gristle. The fat content and marbling on a good cut of Sirloin is instinctive & I wondered whether this was really a Sirloin or a cheap rump that they were palming off for a higher price. It was very clear it was not a good quality cut of meat. The seasonal vegetables on the side were raw and cold - the broccoli was hard. How you undercook boiled vegetables is beyond me. All in all an incredibly disappointing meal and really not worth the time and money as it currently stands - would pop in for a drink at the front pub section again as this has a nice atmosphere & actually the wines on offer were decent, but most certainly will not be visiting again for food unless it has a drastic change. At these prices you need to be serving quality & especially in a time where people’s time and money is more valuable than ever.
We stayed at the Blue Boar following our wedding. We ended up hiring out all the bedrooms. The rooms were lovely and were very clean. The assistant manager was very helpful and accommodating in helping us organise a post wedding brunch at the venue. About 40 people on mass arrived for our brunch and the chef and waiting staff did an INCREDIBLE job in accommodating all the orders and looking after us all. We are very grateful for their help and service. The food was all delicious and well presented too. Thank you for helping make the wrap up of our wedding so special.
This is my second time staying at the Blue Boar. It is a cozy little hotel in Witney, and there is plenty to do within walking distance of the hotel. Staff has all been really friendly and helpful. Pub is great with many different options to choose from for drinks. As a ln American, the rooms are smaller than what we are used to, and if you're tall, you may have to duck to not hit your head. I have had no issues either time staying here and would highly recommend this place. Cab ride here may cost a bit, but I think it is worth it.
