This is the best pub, the best beer and the best food in Malton. This pub should be the food capital as the rest of Malton is pedestrian and slightly snobby at time, though I fail to see why? apart from monthly markets which are great. I see someone turned up late for food. What a shame. Even kitchen staff have to have a break. Turn up on time and you will not be disappointed. Please don't expect haut cuisine but by God it is good. This is good much more than basic substantial food from Yorkshire.
Absolutely amazing Seafood Paella, crammed full of juicy, fresh, plump seafood, fabulous tasting, without doubt the 'best' I've ever had.....and for an incredible £9.95, all washed down with well kept beer. Thanks so much to Chris & Gary
This is a real old school pub and a wonderful find in this day and age. Landlady is a gem and the beer is kept perfectly. Though I have not had a meal here the food looks amazingly honest and good. You may need to book. Don't miss this if you love proper pubs.
Excellent Roast beef Sunday lunch. My wife enjoyed the roast lamb. Very good value for money. The Blue Ball also has a good selection of beers and lager. A very snug place, well worth a visit.
After visiting today, makes you wonder if all these reviews are genuine. It’s a good pub but nothing like these ‘people’ are making out, sorry. More of a moan against here rather than the pub.
First visit to this lovely quirky pub the food was home made and tasty with a nice pint and friendly staff will definitely recommend
Consistently good food, great value, service - can't fault it!
We went for an evening meal only to be told there were several items unavailable on the menu. The food that we did opt for was only average. The barmaid was very nice and apologetic. The pub was clean but a bit tired looking in the dining area.
Used this pub for years seen landlords come an go great people good customers like to wish you all merry Christmas and an happy new year Stan
Lovely little pub full of character in a market town centre location. A good selection of ales and excellent service. The food here is superb, home cooked, good quality large portions and not at all expensive. Try the paella or even the fish & chips, you will not be disappointed, if you are theirs no accounting for some people's taste. We will definitely be back.
