"The Blue Anchor is an iconic pub in West London. In prime position on the banks of the river Thames in Hammersmith, The Blue Anchor is always warm and welcoming. It’s a home away from home whether you’re after a riverside drink in the sunshine or a warming glass of Malbec in or Snug. A short walk from Hammersmith Bridge, The Blue Anchor was first licensed in 1722 and is still a true locals pubs some 300 years later. Downstairs is traditional, wood panelled 17th century pub, while upstairs you’ll find the beautifully refurbished ‘River Room’, with incredible views of the river."

On a dry , decent weather day,you will be lucky to find a seat at any of these riverside pubs. This place has excellent views of old father Thames and Hammersmith Bridge . Food is great, we sampled sausage rolls and superb pork belly unfortunately served with some horrible tasteless vegetable looking like leek. The ambiance is very busy, bright and noisy. Tons of dogs in and out which is no problem for me. A great experience.
Spent this whole Sunday afternoon sat outdoors by the riverside just enjoying the atmosphere. People coming and going, good chat, good vibes, good drinks. But ordered a Sunday roast pork and take a look at the picture, a total disappointment. A serving of a 1x3in of pork is abysmal. The spuds, rubbish. I'd feel embarrassed serving that. Cumin seeds on the crackling? Seriously? I would come here again though because the staff and service and vibe are good but suggest you don't eat here in a hurry.
Came here for Sunday roast. We came a bit late in the day so the beef roast ran out. The pork roast was amazing. Booked in advance and got a good table inside.
After seeing all the generous plates of food arriving to our table I was very much looking forward to my order of the 5 bean chilli however what I received for the princely sum of £15.50 was a literal ramekin portion of beans, a tiny skillet of rice and some tacos. I wondered if I'd been given a kids meal by mistake but apparently not. The other dishes were decently proportioned, the staff friendly and the pub itself is a lovely venue with great views of the river
Well I had about 4 hours to set out of the air port during a layover. Hopped on the tube and diverted early from the stewardess’s recommended destination station of Piccalilli Circus to see London. Hammersmith had a good ring to it so I got out and headed towards the river bank and stumbled upon the Blue Anchor. I walked in right around noon and the smiling staff were wiping down glassware and setting up for the shift. I settled in by the window ordered a hand pulled ale. Kitchen was a bit sluggish in getting my order out but when the fish and chips did arrive it was crispy fluffy goodness.
Pub located along the River Thames, before Hammersmith Bridge; has both outdoor and indoor tables. We went outside and were served well and quickly. We got haddock fish I would have preferred cod and a very good hyppo burger. Very flavorful crispy fries. Overall we had a good time. I would stay there again.
Buzzy, attractive pub on the hammersmith riverfront with glorious views of the beautiful Hammersmith bridge. There's lots of outdoor tables and an attractive interior, decorated with racing boats and memorabilia. The staff are always friendly and helpful. We had the katsu chicken burger and it was delicious! And the prices are fair.
Reputed to be one of the oldest pubs in the uk. Superb location. By the Thames. Great food. Great service. They are 300 years old this year. Wonder why they not celebrating. They didn’t even realise they are 300 years old this year ! How many companies can boast to be around after 300 years ?? Let alone f n b ?? Most go belly up after a few years. But not this place ! Something special about this place ! Wonder what’s their secret ! wish the same for my companies !! Come for a visit. Maybe it’s the vibe? U tell me….. but I will be back for sure !!!
A beautiful riverside pub in Hammersmith. Usually busy but if you are patient may you get a table outdoors in a sunny day. Fish and chips and the cauliflower cheese were delightful. Staff are a great asset. Professional and friendly.
Hands down one of my favourite pubs in London. The view is amazing, literally sitting on the bank of the river. Plenty of seats inside but the tables outside is where you want to be. Although it gets really busy in the evenings and at the weekend especially if there is a little bit of sun, we've always managed to grab a seat. But if you can't - you're more than welcome to sit on the steps/on the wall that's bordering the river walk. The pub is right next to a Rowing Club which adds more character and you can often spot people sailing down the river. Service is always fast and friendly, with good beer on tap and food. Still good.
