Came in here for food and to be honest ill give it a 2 had Wiltshire ham egg and chips ham was dry discoloured round the edges and hard chips were obviously reheated. Partner had fish chips and again fish wasn't nothing tasteless chips again reheated. If you want a weather spoons then i suggest Monmouth or Ross has good cooks clean and nice staff too there
Although busy I was served quickly we waited for our food but not that long. We had the boneless chicken with BBQ sauce very tasty good bits of chicken onne we had with chips the other with salad good portions with both options.nFriendly staff very clean tables
We stopped for a cuppa, wife asked for a slice of carrot cake to share, we were brought a double portion with 2 cups of tea. Only charged for a single portion so cannot guarantee everyone gets a double portion. Friendly young ladies serving us. Fairly full of shoppers. This is Newtown somewhere on the way to Aberystwyth in north west Wales.
Defensive and poor management. Every Saturday the pub receives customers having just completed the local park run and every Saturday the management fail to have enough stock in or organise replenishment of the coffee machines.nThis week was particularly bad service as a defensive manager who made a mistake failed to provide adequate customer care to one of my friends. A group of us go in and order food and drink and on this occasion two of my friends food orders were merged, having both paid separately. Of course, the friend who received the 'bigger portion' didn't recognise it as a bigger portion whilst my other friend waited patiently for food which never arrived. After raising the issue, the manager blamed both my friends for the mixup. Taking no accountability or even apologising for the mistake, blaming it also on new staff. Resulted in my friend getting a refund, only because she asked, not because they offered. Whole thing wasn't a big deal but the attitude of the 'manager' was awful. Zero customer service, confrontational and no ownership of her and her staffs mistakes. Food and atmosphere ratings remain as we like to go there each week but service was below par.
I visited Newtown Wetherspoons recently and was very disappointed with my experience. The chips and peppercorn sauce was cold, and the steak I ordered was mostly fat, making it nearly inedible. When I mentioned this to the staff, all they offered me was a free drink or pudding, and I was told I should’ve complained earlier. I would have expected a replacement meal or at least a more sincere resolution.
