Visited the Bird in Hand last night for a Christmas meal from their seasonal menu. Brilliant food, absolutely outstanding menu with trimmings included. Plenty of meat on the plate, big Yorkshires, all the gravy you need, extra veg, cauliflower cheese. I could go on and on. Brilliant drinks variety from teas to lagers to ciders on draught, served by professional bar staff. The service was brilliant, our waitress kept us up to date on the status of our food as they accommodated our party of 13 which is not an easy feat. The atmosphere in the Bird in Hand is second to none. Exactly the kind of bar you want to be sat in with a pint. The drinks are flowing and laughs are echoing through the rooms, next to a lovely log fire with music playing in the background. Ask them about the free taxi service, where they can meet you at a spot for pickup. The most convenient and straight forward part of the whole night! In an economy where running this kind of establishment is getting harder and harder to do, I'd say they've nailed it. I'd recommend this pub to anyone. 5 Parking: They run a free taxi service if you ask for it, so you don't even need to park if you're driven about!
Called on Sunday evening. The lady at the desk sorry didn't get your name met us at the door and showed us immediately to our table 4 of us. She was patient and also attentive all the time we were there and always with a smile. The main courses were fantastic, the chicken curry was sensational, decent portion, home made chips and great flavour. The cheese cake desserts we had - the chef that made those is properly talented. The presentation was among the best I've seen in my 50+ years on the planet and having enjoyed many a great meal both privately and through my job. It tasted as good as it looked too. Great value, great atmosphere, we'll be returning of course, please change nothing about what you do, your attention to detail and high standards were definitely not lost on us, well done everyone at the Bird in Hand Parking: Plenty and only a few steps across the road
Stopped at this pub for lunch today by chance, on our way to Carmarthen. It's smart and tidy with nice decor inside, pleasant ambiance and dog friendly too. It has a restaurant section, bar and snug. Lovely welcome and service. Large menu, with lots of home made options. I had the veggie sausages, mash, veg and onion gravy. Delicious! And too much mash to finish! My friend had the home made vegan burger topped with bbq pulled jack fruit. I tried a bit and it was soooo tasty. He said its the best vegan burger he's ever had! Really glad we found it and would highly recommend! Vegetarian options: Separate section on menu for veggie and vegan. Good choice. Parking: Large free car park opposite.
such a lovely warm atmosphere. and friendly staff and so polite. the food was the best I have ever had .I had gammon it was 1/2 inch thick and about 9-10 inches round the chips were proper chips and enough for 2 . wife had curry and rice and chips she said was lovely and very tasty. will be visiting again soon I would recommend 100% keep it up don't get many pubs that serve lovely food like you get in this pub
The bird in hand hosted my car clubs Christmas party last night! Fantastic atmosphere, very good prices, food was amazing and the customer service was bang on! As a chef myself I know how difficult it can be to keep up this time of year especially when busier than anticipated, food was a little slow but that didn't stop everyone having a great night and was worth the wait for the quality! Very well presented, fantastic flavour and clearly all freshly cooked
First visit & very impressed. I am not a fan of carvery meals but this really was exceptional. Food was hot, plenty of choice & tasted like my own home cooked roast - delicious. Staff helpful & attentive though the place was very busy. Good value for money though sadly declined the pudding- we were too full......Food: 5/5
Dropped in on our way home . Both of us had the lamb burger I had a pint and my partner had a glass of wine. Service was good. The burgers were excellent and came with a mound of chips , homemade onion rings and a coleslaw. It was cosy and warm on a cold Wednesday night. Will definitely "dropping in" again.Food: 5/5
The best sunday carvery ever. Beautifully cooked meat and exceptional fresh vegetables, with a vast choice to suit any taste and the staff are so pleasant. The surroundings are just so lovely for a get together with family and enjoy great food. I would highly recommend.Food: 5/5

Had same meal as ordered week before which was amazing instead the meal was completely different, very basic, and most meals served to 11 of us did not meet up to expectations, therfore way overpriced for example served burnt chips, but members of table did not complain because it was for an occasion. Plus, the bar service was way too slow, waiting over half an hour minimum for drinks. However, the mini bus service was amazing. Very disappointing as this I thought could be an excellent place for special occasions, but consistency is key and they do not have this as yer
