We were a party of 4 and went for Sunday lunch to celebrate my Birthday. Service was very good and meals were plentyful, no issues when asking for more gravy/ custard. Although rhubarb crumble was cool not cold. Other than that would recommend a visit. Will dine again to see if it has improved. Thanks everyone. Had an absolutely wonderful afternoon tea here, served at lunchtime too! A huge selection of savouries, pastries and sweet things, beautifully presented. We couldn't eat it all, and had to take home doggie bags. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this, and I'll be back.
Lovely food worth the wait. I had crispy beef noodles on the special. Husband had burger which is his go to choice, but when he saw mine he had food envy. We want to go back and try Sunday lunch.Food: 5/5
Food wasn’t so bad taste wise but portions were too small. A portion of chips which is actually 8 chips in a little basket isn’t great, gammon was OK but a few people in the party had chicken that was tougher than an old shoe, and a rack of ribs that had the sauce poured on after it was cooked, probably won’t go back which is a shame really. Considering we had pre ordered our food the wait was still quite long which isn’t a problem but as there were kids in the party you’d think they would be served first, but we ended up a few in the group had actually finished before others were even served.
This was the worse Christmas lunch we have ever had! Staff were lovely & nice setting. Definitely no comparison to last year..the food was rubbish..so disappointed!
Visited early evening on a Wednesday. Reasonably busy but no problem getting a table for two. Tender steaks cooked as requested. Cosy atmosphere sitting by log fire. Meal for 2 with two drinks each £68. Parking: Large private car park for customers
Excellent food and brilliant friendly service. Lovely thick cut chips too which is always a bonus. It's also been recently refurbished and it looks fantastic. Nice conservatory on the side with a great looking outdoor area for the Summer months. Good beer on tap too and parking is ample. A fantastic place to go and been told the bands on Saturday nights are also good.
Service was pretty poor, it was as if they did not want to engage in conversation and that made us feel pretty awkward. The service was rushed and brief. It seemed the staff tended to prefer the older individuals with very noticeable differences in service. For example, asking if they wanted top up on drinks etc. Whilst the food was lovely, I feel I was overcharged. £2 extra to swap my fries for chips?? I can understand charging the difference between the two which was either £0 or 0.50p, but not charging £2? Also, I was not told there would be an additional charge of £2.20 to have my gin with lemonade. When I nicely asked about this, the server just looked blankly at myself and said she didnt know. Its a shame as its a nice little place with nice food but I felt we were made to feel awkward. But I would not recommend the onion rings, it was just greasy batter falling apart with a slither of onion.
My husband and I had afternoon tea at The Welcome Inn, a birthday treat! Lovely food, fresh and plenty of it! Tea, coffee plentiful, staff cant do enough! Very pleasant afternoon, highly recommended!!
don't know why I haven't been sooner! Had a date night with my husband last night, we ordered 2 drinks each, a starter, Main, side and dessert and cost all of £66!!! we like to eat out and we're were not only impressed with how cheap it was for what we had but the food was, well the chef must be using some kind of witchcraft...... Amazing! The portions were perfect not measly but not over filling, although I was stuffed by the end. The staff were pleasant and the atmosphere was relaxing and calm. It has a very homely cottage vibe, even the toilets were nice and very clean. this very well could be our new regular place to eat.
