Decent pub with fairly basic rooms. Nice for a few drinks and dinner but wouldn’t stay again. The rooms are in an outbuilding at the back of the main property and were quite chilly when the heating wasn’t timed to be on. Some toiletries in the bathroom would also be nice and a longer breakfast slot available, breakfast by 8:45am is fairly early on a weekend. Lunch and breakfast were lovely though and nice cosy atmosphere in the pub itself
Really enjoyable friendly country pub. Wonderful hosts and staff were on hand and so helpful. Handy location for lots of attraction with an hour's drive. Longleat 20 mins away. Food was excellent quality and very reasonably priced. Room was basic but very clean , well equipped and just outside the pub. We will certainly be returning as this was probably the best value for money on a short stay we've had.
Really impressed with this proper pub. I had the best fish and chips I had eaten in a long time and my husband had a delicious steak and kidney pie. Such good value. The bar was cosy and the staff really welcoming and friendly. I recommend this pub 100%! There’s a good walk from it too. Parking: Plenty of parking opposite.
Absolutely loved our lunch here. Top quality food, great value, friendly staff and fab atmosphere. Will definitely be back.Food: 5/5
Extremely attentive and went above and beyond accomodating for dietary requirements. We ate lovely food, experienced beautiful surroundings and were looked after by very friendly staff. Perfect peaceful spot for a meal.
Lovely evening meal, great home cooked food and generous portions. Service friendly and speedy with a great selection of food and drinks.Food: 5/5
We went in here to have a few drinks on the 9th August and straight away we noticed how cool it was and everyone was sat outside so it was quiet inside where we sat. This was a bit of a celebration for my wife, she has been suffering with agoraphobia for the past 9 years and this was the first pub she wanted to go to. John behind the bar, you were amazing. Thank you. My wife hasn't stopped praising you for your kind words. Highly recommend this place, it's family friendly, the locals were lovely and the cider was very good too Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options on the menu Parking: There is parking across the road but inside the pub itself isn't wheelchair friendly but they do have an outdoor space that looks lovely and could be friendly for wheelchair users, it's always best to check ahead just in case I'm wrong.
If your looking for a friendly local pub to stay in, I can highly recommend this one! A normal local pub in a wonderful location with great hosts. The Rooms are clean and tidy and the beds are comfortable, we had 2 singles which were more than adequate in size. Cooked breakfast was nice, dinner was quite simply put great! Home style cooked food. Steak and kidney pie, fish cakes, steaks etc and a board of specials, what more do you need. The bar isn’t very big but hosts a fair variety of local ales, wines and spirits. Do not let the road side style parking put you off, we always managed to get a space. We will definitely be looking at coming back here again next year!
This is a pub in the middle of the countryside with some parking across the road. Ordering needs to be done at the bar, but this is not explained when you enter and get invited to find yourself a table. This may be because there are lots of regular patrons who know how it is done. There was only 1 rather battered menu for 4 of us and this resulted in our party not getting our order quite right. The food was pleasant and the pub appears to be dog friendly, which is great for those doing country walks with their dog/s
Great little hidden gem of a pub, good real ales including a fine pint of Exmoor. Family had a lovely meal, my steak was cooked perfectly and good home cooked chips! Thank you for a great evening
