Scenic location on the edge of town with views to the front over a grassy green. Food was good, our omelette was generous and cooked well, bacon on toast was no problem despite not being on the menu. Staff were young and seemed a little inexperienced but were friendly and accommodating. Toilets a little grubbier than the rest of the otherwise well kept place.

We arrived for Sunday lunch and found a very charming old pub that was beautifully presented and most importantly warm on a winter's day. Food was very good quality and of generous proportions. Staff were friendly and the wait wasn't too long considering a full pub. The waiting staff were not the quickest however, we had to get up to find menus and the bill at the end. Not quite perfect but almost.

Most of the staff were nice but the chef was disgusting did not care for the customer shouted at us and was disrespectful he lost out on a £300 meal one of the people on our table saw him dancing while we were waiting for an hour if we had not asked how much longer it was going to be we would have been there much longer. The bartenders were nice it was just the chef.

Food was delicious and they had to serve 13 of us. All food arrived almost at the same time. What was so good was that our veg was served on our plate and so we didn't have to wait. Extra roast pots and gravy. Will defo book again for a big family meal. Thank you to all of the staff, if they will have us again. XXX

An extremely sad experience The Bell has potential however with the current Management and the way in which the staff are treated leads one to remember Victorian attitudes - no wonder the current staff are miserable and the staff keep changing constantly - Young's who own this place have a lot to learn about treating their workforce with empathy - I spoke to one former employee who has said how badly treated he has been and had has issues with wages he no longer works there and sees the same problem for anyone else joining this establishment - I had a drink in there late 2017 and the person behind the bar couldn't even offer a smile I felt completely as If I was an irritation I and my partner will never venture in the Bell again and others may have had a better experience but that is always just an opinion - Staff retention Nil.
