My boyfriend booked this place for our anniversary as it was our first date spot. The staff went all out with his request with a decorated table and sat us in such a romantic spot. Made my night! The food was really nice and couldn’t fault it at all. The waiters were all nice. Especially the lady at the bar who took us to our seat. I definitely recommend this pub. It has such friendly staff, really good food options for all restrictions and amazing service. The effort was worth everything. Thank you for making our night!
We had a great meal at Alders! The food was tasty and well-cooked — I had the burger with chips, and my companion had the hunters chicken with chips. Both dishes were hearty and satisfying, with generous portions. The flavors were really enjoyable, but we felt the plates could have used a bit more salad or fresh greens to balance the meal. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience with good service, and we’d happily return.
First of all the pub is really nice, but the food was quite disappointing and I wouldn't recommend this place, service was ok but could be a little better, try asking how the food is once is served could be introduced. My mum had the carvery and said the turkey was hard and left that. I wanted Mac and cheese in which they didn't have so had to go with my second choice which was the pie and mash, real mashed potato though, the pie was quite hardpastry but ok. My daughter had the kids sausage and mash with peas , and dissapointingly the dessert was the chocolate have cream Sunday, hardly any ice cream mainly whipped cream. I was quite disappointed with that as the ingredients tasted of poor quality. So overall nice pub friendly staff but don't buy the food, you will be disappointed, plenty other local places that have better quality of food choices.
Reading the reviews we should have stuck to the carvery and avoided the main menu. Like others have noted the food was mediocre to poor off the menu. Ordered nacho sharer, came out cold, just with a warm plate to seemingly heat it. Such an easy dish to make decent but toppings splodged on it and as not warmed through was like eating from a bag of nachos and all for £10!nnPie and chips came out, pie broken up for some random reason, gravy luke warm, peas veg looked anemic.nnPint served to me was flat without a head. Kudos for the bar girl for not having a problem swapping it, but the first lad who delivered the first one didn't think to look at it and think its a poor pint.nnMenu is vast. Like all good restaurants just slim it down and focus on doing a few decent side meals well, alongside your carvery.nnEye roll emoji if I could.nnWill avoid in future.
Food was really great at a good price. We had a couple of platters. Plenty for 4 adults. Atmosphere warm and friendly and the service was excellent. They even corrected and refunded an order immediately after I had double ordered. Service was quick and efficient. All round excellent meal. Good job The Alders. You've done Marston's proud
