Food was outstanding. Lovely setting with a warm atmosphere. All staff we saw were new, either first shift or fourth day but really friendly just being new to the job showed and service was slow. However, they were polite, apologetic, explained fully and were trying their best. Will definitely visit again.
Fantastic meal and friendly staff. Book ahead is definitely recommended as it gets busy! +Specials menu as well as normal menu +Food tasted really good, presented nicely +Salted caramel sundae was best I've ever had. Pretty sure the whipped cream was freshly whipped, non of that can rubbish. +Nice decor +Children's play area outside. +BBQ sauce with the burger on another level, don't know if it was homemade or a brand I've never had, but it was bloody good. -Gents toilet was a bit smelly, needs a good deep clean. Will definitely visit again.
Within easy reach of Cirencester, Cheltenham & Gloucester, well worth the trip out into the nearby countryside. We arrived around 5pm & pretty much had the place to ourselves. Staff where all friendly & got.seated quickly. The food where good portions & my mixed grill was well cooked, the meal was steak & red wine pie. Followed up by a Eton mess& a mini pudding with coffee. The pub has loads of history, lots of snug areas & a real.wood burner in the bar area, so great.on a cold day & they're dog friendly. Outside there are different seating areas to the front & rear, with a kids play area to.the rear. Also plenty of off road parking. Would recommend & they also dona 2/3 course meal Tuesday to Thursday after 4pm, which is a selection of courses fron the main menu & great value for money.
Went here today for the last time as being demolished to put a road in. this pub was built 220 years ago and such a lovely place. Talking to different people today who gone just to say end of an era. I've put this as a review just to show that history is so important.. This is set on the A417 and tomorrow it closes for the last time so sad
Always wanted to visit this place and always thought next time. Finally went in. The food itself was good, although 3 lunches took 50 mins to arrive and it certainly wasn't busy. The staff were not attentive, had to wait at the bar for a while while staff had their conversation, the decor is dated and they washrooms are very tatty, wish I'd taken photos of that now. Will try the pubs before en route next time.
An absolutely beautiful landmark historic building soon to be lost forever. Having passed many times but never been inside, we made the 90-mile trip from Hampshire for the last chance of a drink a few days before closure, only to find barman very abruptly turning drinkers away without apology because they were "at capacity" and would only accept bookings. Since when did anyone need to book to have a drink in a bar? Restaurant may have been full, but plenty of space in bar and car park barely 2/3 full. Attitude just about sums up recent Greene King experiences, and an exemplary lesson in how *not* to succeed in business. Notices on door listing woes about staff shortages and lack of heating half-expected under circumstances. Sadly felt like they'd already given up. Not a reflection on most staff here and genuinely wish them well, but what a sad end to 230 years of hospitality at this venue.
Went in at 3pm on a Saturday and was told by a member of staff the kitchen was closed. The staff member wasn’t overly nice about it, they weren’t rude but there was definitely a bit of attitude in their voice. No reason given as to why the kitchen was closed we were just turned away. We must have just missed out though as there was a group outside eating. Completely understand there are times out of their control that will cause the kitchen to close early/ between certain times but when they do usually serve food all day it would have been nice for there to have been a sign or something.
Lovely place to visit. We were warmly welcomed by the staff where they mentioned that there may be a delay for food due to only having one chef but we didn't notice any significant wait. Imogen was the lady who was assigned to our table and was very polite throughout. Thank you once again for a wonderful time.
We stopped in quickly on a long journey rather than driving to some services. Very welcoming and accommodating, it was Sunday but they cooked up some chips for us - 2 very happy children and happy parents! Thank you very much!
We originally booked a table at the Royal St George but when we arrived their water supply had just gone off so they weren't serving food. Rang the Air Balloon and booked a table at very short notice and the food was absolutely delicious. There was only one person behind the bar but she was a credit to her profession and was so organised, friendly and efficient. 10/10
