Not a far journey but still very worth it, friendly volunteers and it's all fun even with a miniature railway . Certainly worth a stop by and try to support them. Got a magnet that will be on my father in law's fridge in South Africa.
We visited here for the polar express experience and had the most fantastic time. Everything about the experience was streamlined and perfectly organised and to top it off, it was 'the best Christmas experience' we have ever done. Tickets and letter with instructions arrived in the post with plenty of time. Directions to the park and ride were clear. We arrived in good time and were able to get onto the bus for transfers to the train station. Here we were greeted by staff who explained the agenda. There was some hot food available to buy, hot drinks also. Extra toilets too so not much queuing. There is a model railway to enjoy along with some entertainment in a marquee to entertain in the run up to the train ride. Once called up to get on board, we headed down onto the platform where staff were great in character whilst ensuring safety around the track in the dark! Carriages were set out clearly which made waiting in the correct place easy to find. The performance began and my children- and me- were mesmerised! On the train everything was delivered with such enthusiasm and enjoyment. It was magical. We are glad we paid for the full experience with gift and bag for our first time but would perhaps not next time. It followed the story brilliantly, the little girl singing was fab and chef tinsel, particularly, was incredibly friendly- but so was everyone from the bus driver to the conductor! We had such a blast!
If you have kids, the Telford Steam Railway is definitely worth a visit. They've definitely made the most out of the relatively short track they have and there is a tunnel, which younger children always love. There's also a miniature ride on railway at one stop and a very good model railway at the other. An added bonus is that the cafe offers good food at very reasonable prices.
Had a great day on my Diesel Experience driving up and down the line in my "little" 52 tonne Class 08 locomotive. None of the volunteer staff could have been more friendly, knowledgeable or enthusiastic and really added to the day. Everything from the the breakfast bap through the model railway to the driving the train itself along the very picturesque line was first rate. An excellent experience that both my partner and I will remember for a very long time.
We visited for the polar express, it was enjoyed and loved by parents and children a like. The organisation was brilliant keeping the children interested until the train pulled up. The entertainment on the train was brilliant and we all enjoyed it. The shuttles provided meant there was no issues with parking. Would highly recommend.
Brilliant Experience on The Polar Express... They have this running to pat, with lots of true to film phrases and characters making this a magical moving experience. Some would say its costly, but the price outways the smooth operation and exceptional dedicated staff to each carriage. Our Grandsons face was priceless!
Polar express is magical great experience kids loved it adults loved it. Hot chocolate was amazing and the STAFF was super helpful and we booked separately to my brother and the lovely chap helped seat us next to each other which was really epricated. Highly recommended to every one.
We have just returned from the magical Polar Express, fantastic atmosphere, the dancing crew of Rudolph carriage lifted eveyones spirits and our Granddaughter met the real Santa who gave us all a magical silver bell. Folks you get out of the experience what you put into it, bring out your inner child sing along clap your hands and get Christmas started. Thank you all at Telford Steam Railway staff / dancers / and volunteers.
We did the polar express Friday and really enjoyed it. Such a a magical experience. The organisers did such an amazing job in making the experience so special. Definitely recommend going. Enjoyable for adults and children.
Perfectly executed experience enjoyed by 4 of us aged 2-64 from start to finish on Friday. All of the staff, cast and organisers should be very proud, especially the youngest cast members. Thanks all.
