Fabulous experience - beautiful selection of historical paintings with a special focus on Turner. I appreciated the chronological sequence that leads up to modern times and contemporary art. Additionally, it’s possible to join thematic guided mini-tours. I enjoyed this visit and am looking forward to revisiting Tate in near future. Access is free with voluntary donations possible via cash or card.
One of the best galleries in London and slightly lesser known, but easy to get to and not crowded. Too-rate curating too for 21st century Britain and good clear commentary by the paintings, including mentioning the labour to produce what you see in the paintings - sugar for the tea in the drawing room for example - was grown by enslaved or forced workers. Well worth a visit and enjoy the paintings.
It was awesome visiting the Tate. It isn't as crowded as the other museums and you'll find people sketching and relaxing inside. There are many galleries showing everything from medieval English art to more modern and contemporary designs and exhibits. My favorite one was the green room with portraits and paintings from almost floor to ceiling. The JW Turner galleries were also very nice. Loved Ophelia and The Lady of Shallot.
It's unbelievable that this museum is free!! It's less crowded that the national gallery but they house some of my all time favorite paintings must see when in London! Wish I spent more time there Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Fabulous free art gallery featuring the best of British art, including Henry Moore bronze sculpture and both Turner and Constable masterpieces. Home of the Turner prize. Interesting exhibitions, currently showing 80s photography. Several coffee shops and excellent subterranean restaurant. Gorgeous architecture with glassed cupola and galleries
This is by far the most beautiful museum I have visited, really amazed by it. It’s very clean, very new and very decent. Each display room is painted in different color, the use of colors are impressive. In one of the display room, there are chairs with outlook being the famous architecture, very cute. Really surprised by how much effort the museum management has spent in decorating the museum, to let visitors have an unforgettable journey. And it’s free entry, so generous, felt so happy to have visited it today!
A compact museum on British art mainly painting. Well designed chronologically. Therefore you can see classical and modern arts in the same visitVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Tate Britain is packed with art, from 18th-century classics to modern pieces. The layout flows well, with each room taking you through different eras and styles. There’s a good mix of paintings, sculptures, and contemporary works, so you’re never stuck looking at the same thing. Easy to navigate, and there’s always something interesting around the corner.
Tate Britain is a hidden gem for art lovers who prefer a quieter gallery experience. It often feels less crowded than other central London museums, making it a great escape. What the most i like about this gallery is awesome architecture. I appreciate the diverse collection include installations, sculptures, photographs, and paintings. Perfect location next to the River Thames. A scenic walk or even a boat ride to and from the museum. Pimlico underground station is nearby or Vauxhall train station. Highly recommended.
I had a wonderful experience here I came around 3 PM and of course you could spend the whole day in this building but I do feel like 2 1/2 hours is a good amount of time. I also ended the visit in the café where they had limited selections an hour before closing, but nevertheless, a beautiful space to sit outside and enjoy the weather and a slice of cake. I would highly recommend doing the exhibits in chronological order. I did not do that and I feel like I missed out somewhat.
