A brilliant view whether your on the train or bus or driving along! Would recommend a nice visit to Cornwall!
Sounds weird giving a bridge 5 stars, but if you drive through Saltash and head down the incredibly steep street to the riverside it is beautiful. We live fairly local, so our family treat every few weeks is to get McDonalds just off the A38 and eat it by the riverside under the bridge. There is a playground down there for the kids and it's very picturesque.
Fantastic structure. Use this bridge a lot. Lovely views from it both up and down the river tamar great for those of you who like to take photos. There is a charge if you are travelling out of Cornwall to Devon on it. Great opportunity to see some great trains from if on the railway bridge adjacent to it.
Beautiful bridge well constructed, you can pay with cash or card to cross.
Great architecture that is best appreciated from The Union pub below. stunning views from up top. Traffic was flowing well, and booth staff was friendly and polite.
Lovely views over the river, you can sometimes see the Naval ships in dock. Free to head into Cornwall but payment required to go the other way.
Marvellous piece of imposing structural engineering, as is the adjacent Brunel's iconic railway bridge which runs alongside. Great views over the Tamar can be appreciated when travelling along this bridge, toll charges apply one way when travelling from Cornwall into Devon and the bridge is open 24 hours. A vital link between between the counties and worth a visit even if not travelling across it, always enjoy looking up from the banks of the Tamar and Saltash.
Incompetent management. Rude booth operators. Belligerent attitude towards travellers and locals. Keep putting up tolls to pay for plush offices and a museum! A real don't care attitude throughout and as most of have no choice but to use it, they answer to no one. Should be ashamed of themselves but clearly pleased and proud with disruptions they create annually. The people in the booths are unbelievably ignorant, if they worked in my customer facing environment then I would take pleasure in managing them out. But they are protected by incompetence above. I dream of the day highways take over and sack these sad excuses for workers.
Lovely quaint systems, they actually still have people sat in little booths taking an eternity to take payment from people by hand! No need for sophisticated or speedy machines here, which is why they have to keep charging so much, those booth keepers don't work for free do they! Utter rip off, it carries the A38 owned and operated by National Highways so it should be them paying for it through direct taxation!! Safly the local MP lives in Torpoint, who's ferry is subsidised by Saltash bridge users so it's no wonder she is so useless when it comes to lobbying government for a fairer deal for locals.
I work right by the bridge. I have lived here since I was a child. The bridge is a fantastic piece of engineering we tend to take for granted. The views are stunning and should be given some time. There is a good pedestrian/cycle path across.
