Nice train station which is served by the London Overground & Southern trains. There is no lifts at the station however there is disabled access to both platforms with the main entrance on platform 2 & platform 1 with another entrance & exit. Busy during the rush hour quiet at night.
Lovely station when the sun is shining, long platforms, plenty of seating. Pleasant little coffee shop too with a good range of snacks, seating area and Monmouth Coffee served at a reasonable price. Almost worth being early for your train or missing it and waiting for the next one.
I had an interaction with the staff today at 1809 regarding an inquiry about a journey to be made next week. The staff member was extremely helpful and friendly. He printed a label that clearly explained to me what trains I should take to make the journey. Furthermore, he recommended me an alternative route in case the southern line got cancelled or delayed as usual, lol to ensure my journey is completed without any disruption. Absolutely great interaction from the overground staff member. Thank you, sir!
No longer tradeing closeing down for good
It’s a small station, but it’s great. When I visited this station back in December it had the following, *A small coffee shop with good prices *Lots of seatings *A couple of train services to East, South and Central London *Some ticket machines that work *Two long platforms The only thing I would change is adding lifts for better step free access.
On Wednesday 18th August my daughter left her phone on the train at Sydenham railway station around 17:40 As soon as we realised we asked the platform counter for help and an employee, Peter, worked efficiently to help up get the phone back by calling the next station. We offered a small reward but he didn’t accept it. We would like to give great thanks to Peter from Sydenham overground rail station for helping us get the phone back.
It was a nice day in sydenham station people were happy and there was a coffee shop with great price when i got the tickets to forest hill i got in the train and i got off in forest hill people were a bit mad because the station was close to get back to sydenham station so i have to get the bus i would recomend you to try the transport there.
Strike in London and Sydenham's staff member black lady decided to close all the gates and tell everyone that station is closed and no trains are running even tho it shows on the boad that overground is working and there are people on the platform.... If you are striking make sure you are working on the right station....!!!!! Don't disturb people who are going to work!!!!!
Best supermarket in Sydenham, bar none. Excellent Turkish style bread, good value butchers and fruit and veg not too bad either. An array of non-perishables, with a particularly good selection of nuts, pulses and jarred pickles. Only small gripe is that they don't stock any decent pasta brands.
I'm badly short sighted so needed to politely ask a member of staff at the ticket gate which platform I needed for my destination. So why was I told the wrong platform and sent the wrong way? I can't think that could have been a mistake and I was clear where I needed to get to.
