Nice really clean railway station with ticket office and waiting room, even has a piano on platform 1 where can also find wc's too. Great information screens and ticket office was manned. Couple of vending machines, no coffee shop although there is one outside the station on platform 2. Only alternative milk they offer is oat.
This station being served by Southeastern service. It's zone 4 station from London Victoria to Orpington. Free street parking available. Penge West station islujelt 10 minutes walk away. There's no ticket barrier and a ticket machine at station.
Nice Station with ticket office and trains going to London Victoria & Orpington. No ticket barriers at this station and also disabled access to both platforms too.
First zone 4 station on Southeastern train London Victoria to Orpington direction. There are some free street parking spaces near by. You can walk 10 minutes from here to Penge West station, from there you can take Southern or London overground service.
Well the station seemed to be decent enough, with a waiting room, toilets, tickets office and seating however the canopy was leaking in multiple places which was annoying. Both exits have step free access to the street and are also connected by a wooden footbridge which is clearly showing it's age. Trains stop here about every 15 minutes.
Lovely little station with a communal library/book share. Great for trips into Victoria as it's only 19 minutes form Penge
What a station! Has everything you need for a transit stop! Ticket machines, friendly staff, seats, local coffee bar, platforms and even trains! Did I mention the friendly staff! There is also a waiting room, and, when they haven't been blocked up, toilets. A decent train information display and announcements that you can actually hear and interpret!!! Also, the staff are wonderful. They have been known to hand out bottles of water in the hottest part of the year! It's a local legend that famous Star Trek legend Bill Shatner used to get on at this station to go to school! This fact is both amazing and completely fabricated, as everyone knows that he was born and grew up in Montreal, Canada. Please note that you cannot get a train to Mars, or any magical school of wizardry from this station. There may have been an extra platform here at one time but now it forms part of the maintenance access to the tunnel. You can, however, catch a train, changing at Victoria, to get to Gatwick, from where you can catch a plane to Florida's space coast, which is about as close to Mars as anyone has gone, barring the moon, which, incidentally, can be seen from this station on a clear morning at certain times of the month. All in all, an amazing place and one you must visit in your lifetime! It even has flower boxes chained to the lampposts to stop them from being stolen - which shows just how valuable they are! While you are here, you must take in the view from the bridge, which, as noted in a recent refurbishment, is a heritage structure!
A normal station with trains to Victoria, Bromley and Orpington. There is step-free access to both platforms but to cross between them, you have to go via an old, decaying footbridge that work is being carried out on as I type. The waiting room has a book swap shelf and toilets. There is a ticket office with coffee stall too.
Penge East railway station is on the Chatham Main Line in England, serving part of the Penge and Sydenham areas in the London Borough of Bromley, south London. It is 7 miles 15 chains 11.6 km down the line from London Victoria and is situated between Sydenham Hill and Kent House. The station and most trains that call are operated by Southeastern, as part of the Bromley South Metro service, with a very limited number of Thameslink services as well. Penge East is in Travelcard Zone 4. History A 1908 Railway Clearing House map of lines around the Brighton Main Line and Chatham Main Line in South London. The station is 7.2 miles 11 km from London Victoria on the Chatham Main Line and was opened on 1 July 1863. It was built by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway and originally known as Penge LCDR or Penge Lane, and was renamed Penge East on 9 July 1923.[4] When the line was built a level crossing was built where the line crossed the old alignment of Penge Lane now Newlands Park Rd and St John's Rd. When the level crossing was closed in about 1879, Penge Lane traffic was diverted down what are now Thesiger Road, Parish Lane and the current Penge Lane. Penge West station is a short walk away, with services to London Bridge. The covered footbridge with its corrugated roof dates from the 1880s and is a listed structure. The station is close to the South-Eastern portal of Penge Railway Tunnel. Services The typical off-peak service is four trains an hour northbound to London Victoria via Herne Hill and Brixton and four trains an hour southbound to Orpington via Bromley South. A very infrequent service operates via St Pancras International to St Albans, Luton or Bedford. Trains via St Pancras International generally start or terminate at Beckenham Junction. Connections London Buses routes 75, 194, 227, 176, 354 and 197 serve the station.
