Story

Sussex Country Gardener is an independent, family owned garden centre in East Sussex. We have an extensive range selling plants, gifts, furniture and seasonal products.

We have an exceptional cafe which specialises in home cooked and locally sourced food.

My favourite Garden Centre ever! Beautiful outside area with everything you need for your garden. Delicious Cafe! Fabulous farm shop. Gorgeous gift shop!

The cafe was going to be my new Sunday go-to but the onerous table number system for a single person has meant twice, in a busy period, someone has grabbed my table and the waitress hasn’t been able to locate me . Today I absentmindedly forgot a table number and whilst taking literally 3 seconds to find one nearby the lady serving let someone else jump in front of me mid way through my order. Hence when my order came I was missing a latte and when in a perfectly civil way I questioned this maybe she had forgotten to add it? and did I still need to pay for it, I felt her responses were quite defensive. Not very friendly service at all I’m afraid and I think I will go elsewhere in future.
I like this place as it has a very nice restaurant so you can get a decent lunch or fresh cake before having a wander around the shop and the nursery. They have a nice range of gifts especially at Christmas. There is also a pet shop on site which specialises in aquatic plants and fish plus all the associated equipment. Well worth a visit. There is a large car park and although Sussex country gardener is very popular I never find it too difficult to find a space.
