So on Friday 23/1/26 we decided to stop in The Surrey for some food 3 adults and one toddler. We ordered drinks at the bar where was told there was no hot drinks as the machine is broken same as it was when we came in December. We sat down and ordered of the app, we waited for a while obvs the baby was getting hungry and board so after 45 minutes waiting I decided to ask if it was going to be close to coming out as the pub at the time of ordering only had 4 people in eating and ordering. So we were told it’s being plated up !! Portion of chips came out .. cold …but just right temperature for the baby ! the vegan nachos came out with dairy cheese and dairy sour cream on so we asked the lady if these were vegan still and she took them back not great for a dairy allergy/ intolerance my steak came out with no onions no tomatoes the chips were cold which was horrible , But the macaroni cheese came out and all I can say it looked like some white cold wall paper paste slapped in a dish not even flashed near a grill on the top with no garlic bread !! By far the worst food I’ve ever seen. So we waited for garlic bread tomato and onion which we asked for and the vegan nachos eventually came out after another wait. But no sign of the missing foods. We never received these nWe did not eat most of the food and after having to ask for missing items we never got etc we decided to leave and never go back. Our foods was mostly untouched so I’m hoping the lady has said to “chef” it’s all been left because it looked and tasted and was coid and with missing items ... just awful !!nshame as our December visit was lovely
Probably the worst experience in a pub I’ve ever been to. My best friend and I came here for lunch with my newborn. The staff don’t even acknowledge you at the bar and pretend you don’t exist. We sat at table 4 for half an hour, even after ordering food to which a member of staff came over and said we had to move because there was a party, no reservation sign or anything. I made them aware that I’d ordered food to which she replied ‘dw I’ll let the team know’. Little did we know this wasn’t communicated with the staff. After an hour and a half we asked what was going on with our food as people were being served before us who came in much later after us. The staff said they would look and offered us free nachos. I will upload the free ‘nachos’ now. These nachos we also had to ask again for after 10 minutes.nThe team are rude, lack communication skills and clearly forgot about our food.nI went up to ask for a refund but the food finally arrived after an hour and 15 mins. The food was little to nothing on the plate and looked like it had been chucked on there. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It’s poorly run, clearly down to management and the level of service is appalling. I will not be returning and I will spread the word to all friends and family and anyone in the local area.
A very disappointing experience from start to finish.nnWe arrived a little early to be greeted with a wet floor that wasn’t properly cordoned off and a leaking ceiling. A safety hazard to all patrons in the pub.nnFollowed by shocking communication as to what was happening with regards to the table we had booked online a few days earlier. The person I could only assume was the manager disappeared off without a word, cleared some tables and cobbled 3 tables together to facilitate our booking so I can only assume this hadn’t replicated through to them so they were caught unaware.nnWe ordered on line and food came out piecemeal for the 2 orders that were placed, for my family order the final plate arrived almost 15 minutes after our first two were bought to the table. I have never been to a restaurant where food doesn’t come out together, some time management training for the kitchen is much needed which became more apparent when we ordered dessert and 30 minutes later we were still waiting despite being told by 3 different members of staff that it was just coming each time I questioned the delay. Eventually I needed to ask for desserts to be put in takeaway boxes for my three children as we had an evening appointment to get to. Your manager was rude and dismissive and we will not be returning nor recommending to any other family or friends.nnA shame as the single positive takeaway from the evening was that the main meal food that we did receive was value for money and reasonable tasting.nnAs stated a disappointing experience all round
We had a big family meal at The Surrey a few months ago and it was great. Food was lovely, service was great and really good value for money. We came again, just four of us, and service was really slow. We had ordered and after quite a bit of time, a member of staff came to say one dish was now not available so she chose something else. When the food finally came, it was lukewarm bordering on cold. Apart from the one of us that had rechosen their meal, theirs was hot. We guessed the rest of ours was prepared and then left to the side whilst the alternative was communicated then cooked. Well....we put this down to possible staff shortage and hoped it was a one off and returned to try again based off of our initial experience. Orders went in, a good twenty minutes passed and a member of staff comes to tell us one of the dishes is unavailable. New dish selected. And then we waited and waited, asked twice how long, both times told five minutes. Finally food arrives, hot this time at least. But we waited well over an hour. Won't be our first choice in future sadly.
Booked a table for two and were welcomed by friendly staff. The table was a bit sticky, but it was a busy Friday night so understandable.nnOrdering via the app wasn’t ideal, and after waiting 20 minutes with no service we went to the bar instead.nnOnce ordered, the food came quickly - large portions, tasty, and good value.nnOverall, despite the app system, we enjoyed it and would recommend.
